Remington
I woke up drenched in sweat, and panting. My shaky hands ran through my messy hair.
"Was it the same dream, again?" Emerson asked from his bed.
I had been sleeping on his floor for the past week, or trying to anyway. As soon as we got home, Austyn packed up her things and left. Without so much as a second glance in my direction. She said she needed time to think, and I told her that I didn't care as long as we could still be friends. I lied. Through my fucking teeth, I lied. I should've been doing that all along but, I got too much courage. I let out too many feelings, and now she was gone. I nodded my head silently and sat up, pulling my knees to my chest.
"Listen man," Emerson sighed sympathetically as he stumbled to my spot on the floor, and took a seat next to me, "I know this is hard on you-"
"It's ripping my heart out Em." I broke down as he wrapped his arms around me.
"I'm so sorry Rem," He whispered, "she doesn't deserve you."
I knew he was wrong. God, he knew he was wrong. If anything, it was the other way around, and we both knew that. But, that wouldn't make me feel better. So, deny.
"You know what," I sniffled, "you're right."
I let out a scoff as I wiped my tears. Deny, deny, deny.
"I literally cut my fucking heart out of my chest," I muttered, "and she didn't even have the decency to let me down slowly. She just- stomped on it, and fucking left me there-"
"Ok," Emerson mumbled softly, "I appreciate the enthusiasm but it's four in the morning, and Shy is still right over there asleep in my bed."
"Not anymore," Shy grumbled, "I'm going to the couch."
"Sorry," I sighed halfheartedly. Even in the dark, I could see her understanding shrug. All of a sudden, words struck, "I wanna finish the song."
"What? Right now?" He said worriedly.
"Yes right now," I stated, "and then I want to go out tonight. I just wanna forget about her. Get it over with."
"Rem, I'm not sure-"
"Have you ever had your heart broken?" I asked sternly.
"No."
"Than shut the hell up, and let me cope." I groaned.
Emerson sighed defeatedly, and I threw my head back into the pillow.

"To finally finishing our album!" I slurred out, raising my glass of beer above my head, and giggling when I splashed some in my hair.
"Did you just giggle?" Larisa laughed, holding up a not so sober Sebastian.
"He giggled," Emerson hiccuped, "he giggled like a little girl!"
I shoved him lightly, but he stumbled a bit due to his undoubtedly blurred vision.
"Remington!" My head turned lazily towards the voice.
"Carmen?" I questioned.
"Hi," She beamed, "how are you?"
How was I? It was three in the afternoon, and I could barely stand on my own.
"Oh," I mumbled, as I slung my arm around her, "so good. I am so good."
"You sound like it," She smiled sarcastically, "Austyn's here with me, if you want to say hi?"
Say hi? She really didn't know anything, did she.
"Austyn?" My face dropped.
Carmen nodded her head, confused, before turning towards the girl, "Austyn!"
Without thinking, I pulled Carmen's lips into mine. My mouth burned painfully as it moved with her's. I wasn't doing it for fun. I just wanted her to stop talking. I just wanted to feel, wanted. When I pulled away, Austyn was staring at us with a pale expression, and the smirk had been prominent on my face by time Ryan had approached us, and swung a fist in my direction. I spit out some blood as I stood from the bar floor, and tackled him headfirst. Continuous swinging, and shouting, and swearing erupted, and lasted for probably twenty seconds.
"Ok," Sebastian seemed to sober up at the violence, and pulled me off the man, "come on little one."
I rolled my eyes, sobering up a tad myself when I looked at Austyn, who was now stomping towards me, with a fuming look on her face. She ripped my hand out of Sebastian's and pulled me roughly towards the restroom, earning a low whistle from Emerson when we passed him.
"What the fuck," She muttered as I hopped onto the counters, and she dug through her bag, "what the fuck, is wrong with you?"
"Me," I scoffed, "you're the one that has a first aid kit in your bag."
"Stop deflecting." Austyn scoffed.
"Excuse me?" I laughed. Almost hysterically, at her words.
"You heard me."
"I did," I continued chuckling, this time more dryly, "and you're a fucking hypocrite."
"Oh," She rolled her eyes, "am I?"
"Yes," I shouted, wincing when she patted the cut on my eyebrow with an alcohol drenched cotton ball, "are you serious right now? Or, are you joking? I can never fucking tell with you because you never fucking let me in."
"You don't know shit."
"Yeah, not shit. Except for the fact that I tried," I snapped, "I tried so fucking hard, and you ran away."
"I know that," Austyn snapped back, her voice cracking slightly, "God Remington, you don't think I fucking know that? I fucked up and I know that!"
My expression faltered slightly, and my words came out as just above a whisper, and I took her hand, to look in her eyes, "What?"
"Did you ever think that maybe the whole fucking reason I came here was to apologize to you? Was to tell you that I was just scared," She muttered honestly, "Rem, I love you too."
"Wait-"
"No," Her voice cracked and she looked at the ground, with tears in her eyes, "it's fine, I know it's too late now."
But, it wasn't too late.
"Clearly you've moved on." Austyn scoffed, referring to the kiss I had given Carmen.
"Austyn- that wasn't what it looked like, I swear to G-"
"It's fine. I get it. She's probably more your normal type anyhow huh," Austyn smiled, "don't worry, I'm used to that."
"It's not-"
She packed up the kit, and threw it back in her bag, before wiping her tears away.
"Could you tell me why though?" She turned around with a purely exhausted look on her face.
"Why what?" I asked genuinely.
Her eyes finally showed me how broken she had been, how much she truly had let me in.
"Why would you ask for my heart, just to rip it straight in two?"
