Remington
Don't take me for a fool
Those words had been ringing through my had for the past week. After all, it was the last thing I heard from her.
"Earth to Remington," Emerson interrupted my thoughts by throwing a gummy bear at my head, "where you been Remi?"
"In outer space, like always."
I popped the gummy bear in my mouth before playfully shoving Sebastian in the shoulder in response to his comment, "Fuck off."
"Seriously," Emerson seemed a little concerned as he spoke. He wasn't just my little brother. Emerson was also my best friend. So, him sensing that something was up served as no surprise to me, "what's up?"
"I don't know," I clicked my tongue in an attempt to avoid responding but, god forbid my brothers would let one thing go, "it's just- I met this girl at the show last week."
"Was this before or after you ate shit?" Sebastian snickered.
Emerson tried his best to contain his laughter, to no avail. Soon enough my brothers were teasing me, and just about rolling on the floor from laughter.
"Forget it." I scoffed, but by my smile, they knew I found it funny too.
"No no no," Emerson rushed out, "girls make you a grumpy mother fucker. We deserve a fair warning."
Sebastian nodded his head in agreement and I rolled my eyes.
"They do not." I was quick to defend.
"Bullshit," Sebastian scoffed, "you always fall in love way too fast. God, I wish you gave us that much attention."
"You're one to talk." I teased.
"Ok back to the topic at hand!" Emerson shouted, routing us back to the topic at hand.
"I don't know," I sighed and rubbed my hand down my forehead, "I can't get her out of my fucking head but, I don't have any way to find out where the hell she is, or how to get a hold of her. Hell, I didn't even catch her name."
"Well, if she was at one show, maybe she'll come to another one?" Emerson shrugged.
I shook my head dismissively, "She didn't know who we were. She was there with her friend, that's what's killing me. She was different than anyone I've ever met before in the sense that she wasn't going completely crazy, and trying to get my attention. She was just having fun, and genuinely enjoying what we were doing, and treated me like a human being. Not like just some random guy in a band that she wanted to chase after."
Sebastian looked at Emerson, and I could tell that they were silently calling me out on my craziness but, I shook it off. How would they know if I'm crazy or not? They didn't look into her eyes the way I did, and even if it was just for a second, I got lost in what was behind them. I had to know more. I was infatuated.
"Whatever," I shrugged out a lie, "I'm sure I'll forget about her in a couple of days."
I knew it wasn't true but, they obviously thought it was. Maybe that's all that mattered.
"Maybe she'll turn up." Emerson said half heartedly.
"And maybe she won't," Sebastian shrugged, "either way we need the last song for this record."
"I'm not really in the mood for writing right now." My words came out softly and cracked, and if my brother's wanted to respond I didn't give them the chance.
"How does he fall so easily?" I could hear the conversation commencing from my bedroom but, I only half listened.
"I don't know but, maybe we'll get something out of it." Emerson chuckled, and what was said after that was blocked out by me closing my bedroom door.
Why? How could someone pull me in so closely with just one look? I didn't know where she went but, I prayed to the god that I wasn't even sure I believed in, that I'd see her again.
