We headed back to the house. I helped Ana get Jonah back into my home. We helped him down on the couch. I kissed his cheek as he drifted asleep.
"What the hell happened?" Ana asked.
"Shhh!" I responded.
I took Ana's hand and pulled her into the kitchen.
"I met my dad," I explained.
"Oh," Ana responded.
"Then Jonah tased me, and I screamed. Kolby thought I was being attacked-"
"So he punched Jonah?"
"Yeah,"
"So you met your dad? How was that?"
"Okay, until he punched Jonah."
"AWE! You care about Jonah!"
"Yeah, so?"
"SHH!"
"What are you planning to do?"
"I think someone killed my mom."
"Oh,"
"I want to figure out who as well as who is after me."
"Cool,"
"I need to make a phone call. I'll be right back."
"Okay, sweetie, I'm going to start dinner."
I walked into the living room and dialed the only person I could think of.
"What's up?" Anya responded.
"I have an idea."
"Um, okay,"
"I'll be your assistant so I can investigate."
"Okay,"
"Has Kolby mentioned anything about today?"
"No."
"Oh, thank god."
"How's Jonah?"
"He's out cold."
"Jesus...Anyway, I'll have you start tomorrow. Do I have to pay you?"
"God, no."
"Oh, cool."
"I'll see you tomorrow."
"I'll text you to address."
"Okay, bye."
She hung up. I was taken aback for a moment. She said she loved me. It's not weird she's my biological aunt. Why do I feel off? I walked back into the kitchen.
"It's been a long day; I'm going to nap," I explained.
"Okay, sweetie," Ana responded.
I headed back to the guest room. BEEP BEEP! I sprung up. An extreme heat came over me.
"SHIT!" I said to myself.
I grabbed my tote with everything still in it. I threw the window open and kicked the screen out. BARK, BARK BARK! My head turned, and I headed toward the noise. I grabbed the doorknob with my shirt. It burned through and burned my skin. There was a down in the next room in a carrier. I opened it and put the baby corgi in my tote. I then climbed onto the roof. Three shadowy figures were running from the house. They jumped into a black van that drove off.
"Oh my god," I said to myself.
I grabbed my phone from my back pocket and called 911.
