A cold gush of water woke me up. I rose to see an empty bucket hitting the ground in complete darkness.
"What the hell?" I asked myself.
I tried to move my arms, and wires were holding my hands.
"Hello?" I asked.
"A person's voice can't break the sound barrier here." A voice from the darkness explained.
"Let me guess, your Kolby's mom?"
"How did you know?"
"Intuition...Also, looking at someone like they are a ghost doesn't help matters."
"So you know me, my question is, who are you?"  Kolby's mom continued. "Leah killed her kid eighteen years ago? Or did she?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
A guy came into the only light. He was wearing all black and was holding a bat. Oh, god, no. He then swung at the sides of my body. Pain shot through my body, taking all the breath out of me.
"Your mother should've never returned to town," Kolby's mom explained.
"You can't control people," I responded.
"I think I already have," She continued. "My children are something because of me. Then Kolby got that whore pregnant."
"Don't talk about my mom like that!" I continued. "Shit!"
Kolby's mom walked up to me and burned my hand with a cigarette. I winced. Then the man hit me in the stomach with a bat, and I immediately threw up.
"What do you want with me?" I asked.
"I wanted you dead the moment Leah found out she was pregnant. This will be more fun." Rosie explained.
Suddenly the thing I was attached to was turned horizontally. The pain came from the back of my leg. He then began to carve into my leg. I screamed.
"Tape her mouth shut!"  Kolby's mom demanded.
"Yes, Rosie." The man said.
He went into the darkness and returned with a duct tape roll. My screaming became internal. Rosie left the room, and I heard her footsteps going upstairs. Am I in a basement? The man continued to move the knife into my leg, and I moved my leg away from the man. The clattering of the blade filled the basement.
"You want to do that, huh?" The man explained.
The man punched me in the face. He grabbed the bat and smashed my knee in, and it was the same leg he was carving into. I felt tears build up.
"I'll be back later." The man said.
He went up the stairs. Tears began to fall down my face. I then caught my breath.
"Come on, stay strong, Ari," I said, calming myself down.
