The group of nurses left the room. There was one left, the same one who had asked me the questions before.
"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"I'm in a lot of pain," I responded.
"Okay, on a scale of one to ten. Where are you at?"
"A nine." I paused. "I'm thirsty."
"We can get you something for that," She continued. "Are you okay with visitors?"
"It depends on who?"
"Do you want the Lancaster's to come in?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Shit's already complicated, and I need to figure this out on my own."
Another nurse came out of the doorway.
"Sara!" She said.
"Yes," The nurse turned around to face her.
"The police are here. They want to speak with her."
"Okay," She turned to me. "Are you okay with that?"
"I think so," I responded.
"Send them in."
Sara left the room, and two people then came into my room. One cop was wearing a suit, and another was in their uniform.
"Hi," I said. "Sorry about my voice."
"It's fine; you had a tube down your throat for a month." The cop in the uniform responded.
The cop in a suit came and sat in the chair next to me.
"Are you okay if we record this interview?" She asked.
I shook my head. She puts the recording device in between us.
"Let's get started." She said, opening up a notebook.
