Prompt~ spin off of something beautiful bloomed from pain. Where reader was found by Leonora instead of Clarissa. pre birth of Delilah.
Being a reader already was a disadvantage, but being a placed in the wrong school and being a reader? That was hell. Well everyone believed you were in the wrong school. Quite truly you didn't know where you should be. You definitely didn't fit in with the Evers. Pretty pink dress, braiding each others hair and their prissy stuck up attitudes were just not you. But then there's the Nevers. Cold, unfeeling and downright dangerous was also not you. Just like in Gavaldon you didn't fit.
Unsurprisingly for you, you became the one target that both sides of the school united on. Although the association with good the Evers could be just as cruel as the Nevers. If you were facing one side of the school you knew the other would be round the corner waiting. At the start of the semester you were hopeful to gain at least one friend. But as time progressed you realised that was most definitely not happening. You're own company with that of text books was your only friend. The libary your safe space. In fact you often slept there just to avoid your dormitory. The girls in their really hated you. The Never Ever who didn't belong. In fact Hester had actually had you dangling off the balcony. After that you avoided her at all costs. You were torn who was worse. Boys or girls? The girls could had their tongues for the choice of weapons but the boys? They liked to get their hands dirty. Which is exactly what lead to that fateful night.
As per usual in your routine, you sat curled up with your legs underneath yourself and a book in your hand. Blanket draped over your shoulders as you read in the window seat, basking in the silvery glow of the moon. The onyx sky contrasting the glow beautifully. A true example of being opposites yet complimenting each other beautifully. The book you were reading was purely recreational. A story of a twisted love affair. The lovers fated to be together but unable to accept that fact. One of your favourite tropes to read. (I struggle writing this trope🥺 but it leads to the most beautiful romances🥺) contentment filled you from head to toe as you allowed yourself to get lost in the story. Anything to escape the reality you lived in. It was the slamming of the library door that had you jumping out of your seat in alarm.
"Who is it?" You mumbled trying to manage a fake conference but failing miserably. Only greeted by a chuckle before your world went black.
It was the chill of the night that brought you back to the land of the living. Very quickly you realised the imminent danger you were in. Your clothes torn from your body. Hands trailing over your skin. No no no no. "Stop please I don't want this. No no no please" you whimpered out the fear you felt soaking every word. Once again only met with that dark chuckle and a smack to your bagged head. You tried to fight but whoever had decided to complete such a heinous attack was way stronger than your five foot four frame. Tears streaming as you continued to beg and plead them to stop. Screams of terror and pain erupted from you as you lost your fight. They took what they wanted. You were powerless to stop the assault but you never stopped trying. Every instinct in your body screaming to run.
Then suddenly you were alone. The feeling of the hands making your skin crawl. Tears still streaming as you removed the bag over your head. Numb that's what you were. Who would do such a thing? Why did no one come to your aid? Did you truly deserve this? Why? Everything hurt. Limbs weighed down with the fear still lingering. What if they returned? You somehow managed to gather the strength to sit up against the wall. Only then did you see the crimson patch on the floor. Fuck that's why it hurt so much. Panic rising through you, how why what? Fuck. You hurt and were clearly bleeding so what could you do? A quick glance to your torn clothes eliminated the option of attempting to redress. No all you could do is curl into yourself and sob. For your innocence so brutally take. For the old you who wouldn't have dreamed this would ever happen. For the wanting to end your life to escape this world. For the pain. You lay there curled up, bleeding and shaking for god knows how long.
"Y/n? Oh darling no" lady lesso gasped out in shock as she took in the sight before her. Doing her rounds she noticed the library door slightly ajar. Unusual. Lady Lesso knew of course that you often camped out here, but you always closed the door effectively hiding from the rest of the school. Had she not stumbled across you one night when looking for a book late at night she wouldn't have known.
Cautiously approaching you as if you were scared cattle about to flee, Lesso surveyed the situation more closely. First thing she noticed was the torn clothing. The second the blood. The third was you curled up into a tight ball sobs wracking your shivering tiny frame. Instantly it was clear what had happened here. Jumping into action she grabbed your abandoned blanket and slowly approached calling for you.
"My darling, it's Lesso, can you come back to me? You're safe I won't hurt you. I just need to wrap you up nice and warm. Oh y/n my darling come back to me" she whispered on a loop. The voice slowly guiding you back from your traumatised state.
"L-L-e-sss-o" you sobbed out. Utterly broken.
"It's me little dove. You're safe with me. Can I wrap you up? Y/n you'll catch your death like this." She murmured to you opening her arms showing you the blanket she intended to wrap up with you.
You nodded stiffening when she did so before breaking down into more sobs. Gut wrenching sobs as your pain flowed. "Oh my darling dove. It's okay you're okay I will make whoever hurt you pay I promise. Even the doom room is too god for this monster. You're gonna be okay dove I'm here. I'm right here." She reassured you just holding you rocking in a soothing rhythm. Your hands clutched at the lapels of her coat. You knew Lesso would keep you safe.
After some time, when the sun started to rise and you were calmer did Lady Lesso speak up.
"Little dove? How about we clean you up hmm? You must wish to bathe? And then we can try find this disgusting monster or we can nap. Whatever you need darling. Can we do that?" You whimpered in response. Was she leaving? You didn't want that. "No no no don't leave please don't leave me I can't please" you mumbled out. You sounded so broken it caused the older women's heart to shatter in a million pieces.
"Darling I won't leave I'll be with you all the way." She reassured you which seemed to soothe you slightly. You nodded answering her earlier question. Only then where you cradled in her arms and carried to bathe. After bathing and seeing the bruises covering your skin where they were clearly heavy handed and forceful did you settle in a bed. Leo's bed. Laying in her bed, curled up on her chest and smelling her scent. Something so unique it was only hers. It immediately started to calm you enough to lull you into a sleep.
Lady lesso just held you and watched over you as you slept. Mind reeling from what has happened. She was all for being evil but this? No this wasn't evil. It was down right cruel. She desperately hoped none of her Nevers could be capable of this. She would find the culprit and swiftly bring them to their demise. No no, they deserve to suffer and die slowly. After all they had broken her little dove. Lady Lesso felt for you. She saw how you didn't fit in with your peers, how you always tried to ace every exam and had the upmost focus in classes. Your personality was stunning of course. Despite you being a student you were well of legal age, yet Lesso refused to admit any feeling of any kind for you. But this? This made her want you to be hers forever. To protect. To hold. To love. Seeing you be in so much pain was killing her. Feelings appearing left right and centre clouding her judgement.
It was only when whimpers began to fall from your slumbering frame, that Leonora snapped back to the present. "Nora, help. Help me. Stop. No.please. I don't. Stop" you whimpered.
"Little dove. I'm here. You're safe. I'm here. They can't hurt you no more" lesso reassured wanting to stop the painful cries coming from you.
"N-nora. Make it stop. It hurts. Please. No no no no" the whimpers continued tears flapping freely.
"Oh my dove I'll make it stop I promise. Your okay little one. Nora hmm? That's what you call me in private? I quite like it from you. Nora is here darling." Was whispered out a hand coming to stroke your back hoping to soothe you and change the things you were seeing into positive. It seemed to do the trick. Talking to you. You reacted to her voice even in your sleep. Quite adorable actually. Whoever could do this to you needed to be taken care of. And they would be. Personally by her. But right now? Her little dove needs her and that's where her priorities lay. With you.
