The City of Darkness

XXI: Ambush!

This begins the Warning Shots Arc (Chapters 21-30) of the Thera saga.

As our heroes traveled across the vast world for answers, they asked Leah for some as well..

"So Leah, what is Incradia?" Shard asked as he started to put on his goggles. They were moving through the air at fighter jet speeds.

"Incradia," Leah said. "Is a kingdom, ruled by an 18 year old guy named King CJ. It's a peaceful kingdom that has lots of citizens in its stronghold city, Noméré. However, it's a powerful kingdom that can fend off an army."

"How?" Sky said.

"I don't know. The King is kept to himself, and those who try to fight him are..well, I don't know." Shard shivered a bit.

"I hope we're not one of those. How do we get in?" Shard said.

"Either sneak in or fly in." Leah said.

"Let's sneak in, then." Our heroes soon landed outside the kingdom. They snuck through the trees, looking for an entrance.

"Okay, so past the clearing, and into the kingdom, right?" Pierce said.

"Yeah. We'll have to run, no cover out there." Alice II said.

"Okay, lets go." The five of them pulled their weapons and made a mad dash across the clearing, until they were almost there, when Alice II pushed everyone and swung her scythe. The four looked down to see an arrow cut in half.

"They found us!" Alice II said. The four got up and went back to back with Alice II. They were surrounded by Incradia's forces.

"State your business!" A person said from atop a tank. He looked like a commander.

"We're here to see the king!" Leah said.

"Nobody sees the king! Be gone!" The Commander said.

"But we ha-"

"NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS!!" Shard and Alice II giggled.

"He said 'Buts'." They said. Pierce and Sky sighed.

"That is it!! All forces, ATTACK!!" The army, with weapons of lasers, arrows, swords, axes, lances, and cannons began an assault. The five quickly formed a plan.

Shard leaned his back on Sky's hands. Sky blasted him forward with a blast that doesn't hurt him. Shard took out Avenue and glowed green. "Brake Release!!" His transformation completed, he raised his sword as he flew towards the army. "Signature move Alpha! Slashing Caliburn!!!" Shard shot through the army, taking out a large mass of its members with his sword. "Alice II!"

"On it!" Signature move Phantom! Sacred Darkness!" Alice II sliced the ground, causing a dark wave to rocket to her foes, blasting them away. "Sky!"

"Yeah!" Sky yelled. Her hands started to glow. "Signature move Diamond! Newborn Destruction!" Sky shot a blast at her foes, leaving a massive rut in the sand. "Sis!"

"On it!" Pierce put on her boxing gloves. "Ultimate move One! GearBox!" Pierce punced the ground, causing rocks to shoot up in the air, as well as army members. "Last, but not least!"

"Special move, Capricorn!" Leah said. "Cosmo Infinity!!" Leah froze every enemy in sight. They won. "Who's the best?"

"We're the best!" Everyone said. Suddenly, Shard collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

"Shard!" Sky ran over to Shard, but then she fell, unconscious as well. Soon, Leah, Pierce, and Alice II fell as well, but all five of them had something in common. They had sleep arrows in their backs.

"Excellent job, my archer friend." The Commander said through her com piece.

"No problem." A girl said. "Sleep tight, Shard and Leah."
