You glanced in the direction of the council hall as boys piled in through the doors, then back at the hammer in your hand and the work before you.  You briefly thought about what they could be discussing that evening, and you couldn't help but wonder if Newt had brought up the prospect of you and Gally becoming a 'thing' to Alby.

You smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear as you focused on your task.  Absentmindedly your fingers trailed to the wooden heart around your neck—that Gally was able to seal tightly back together with pitch from a hearty tree.  You traced the "G" with the tip of your finger, loving the way the grooves felt underneath your touch and smiled, grateful that Gally had been able to fix your small, exquisite treasure.

You looked over at the Council Hall once more, seeing the door shut, absent of boys.  Then you struck the nail-head with the hammer, forcefully driving it halfway into the wood beneath.  You were hardly an expert Builder yet, but, to your satisfaction, you were getting better.  Wouldn't Gally be proud!

Suddenly you heard wheezing and the trampling of heavy footsteps, and looked up to see Chuck running towards you, out of breath.

"Chuck?" you asked, frowning, "What's wrong?"

"Y/N!" he gasped, trying to catch his breath. "Uhm...Gally and Dan were by the Doors and Dan wanted to go in, but—"

"Hold on!" you said, trying to make sense of what he was saying, "Slow down!  Catch your breath!"

As Chuck inhaled air, obviously distressed, you coaxed him to talk slower, and to tell you more specifically about what had happened.  You listened intently as Chuck started over, trying to comprehend what he was saying.

"Dan was on patrol," Chuck said anxiously, "And he wanted to see the Maze!  Gally tried to stop him, but Dan shoved his way through.  Then they started fighting in the Maze, and Gally's hurt!  Dan left him there—"

"Wait!" you said suddenly, dropping the hammer. "Gally's hurt?  Chuck, is he really?!"

Chuck paused, as if not wanting to tell you, then nodded slowly, his red face lined with worry.

"Oh no!" you breathed, "The doors will be closing soon!  I've got to get to him!  Chuck!" You commanded. "Go get help, I'm going to Gally!"

"But—" started Chuck, but you didn't let him finish.

"Now, Chuck!" you yelled behind you as you took off for the massive concreate doors.  "Run!"

You felt your heart pounding as you came up to the space where the Glade grass met the cement flooring of the Maze, and your eyes took in the long, expansive, dimly-lit corridor; the entrance to the Maze.  You scanned the ground and sides of the walls, and frowned, seeing nothing at first.  Stepping closer you continued to search, expecting to see something, but still, there was nothing.

"Gally?" you called anxiously into the echoing hallway of the Maze.
