Gally tilted his head from his vantage point on the ground, trying to assess the best way of fixing the destruction done to the Bloodhouse roof. He had to calculate not just the damage from the storm, but also the damage done to it by the incompetent Builders.

Trying to get a better angle, he rounded the corner of the building and almost ran into you.

"Y/N!" he said in surprise, not expecting you to have been there.

He watched as you whirled around, then noticed your large eyes and the fact that you seemed to be frozen in place.

Gally dropped his eyebrows in concern. "Y/N, what's wrong? What-"

Then he caught a slight movement just behind you, and he lifted his eyes.

Thomas.

As Gally looked from you to Thomas and back again, he slowly began to notice how close you were standing to Thomas, and in rapidly-growing alarm, realized that the top of your shirt was slightly unbuttoned, and Thomas' hair was tousled as if slender fingers had been run through it.

His head began to spin, and he blinked, trying to keep his balance as he began to fully understand what was going on.

"Gally, I can explain..."

He heard your voice in the distance, as if coming from far away. He felt sick, and doubled over. Then blackness swallowed him.

As his eyes adjusted to the dark, it took a moment for Gally to comprehend what had happened, but finally his vision cleared and he knew where he was. He lay back and closed his eyes, forcing himself to take deep breaths, feeling his heart pounding against his ribcage.

It was just a dream, it was just a dream!

But somehow knowing this didn't help to calm him. That dream was so real! It was as if the thing he dreaded most in the world had just come true only moments before, and he still couldn't convince his body that it hadn't actually happened. That it had all been in his head.

Gally opened his eyes. From the way that he could faintly make out the objects around him, he knew that it must be early. Before dawn. Taking another deep breath, he made up his mind and swung his legs over the side of the bed. He couldn't live with it any longer. He had to figure out what you and Thomas were doing in the woods every morning. He had to prove to himself once and for all that nothing was going on between the two of you!

_________

"Owch! Thomas, wait up!" you whispered, rubbing the shin that you had accidentally slammed into a tree stump, unable to make it out in the darkness before it was too late.

"Sorry," his whisper came from somewhere in front of you, and as you continued, you were just able to make out his shape in the dimness. "It will get lighter soon. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," you huffed. "But there will be bruising."

As the two of you walked further into the trees, it became gradually lighter, and soon you were able to see Thomas in front of you without needing to squint. Just as you were starting to regain your confidence in the increasing sunlight, a twig suddenly snapped from somewhere behind you. You jump at the noise and spun around, scanning the trees.

"What? What's wrong?" asked Thomas as he turned around, noticing your pause.

"It's nothing, I just thought I heard someone," you said, instantly relieved at seeing nothing. "Sorry, I don't' mean to be jumpy, it's just...you know that I don't want anyone finding out about this, because it would most likely get to Gally and ruin everything," you took a breath, "and we wouldn't want that," you added with a smile.
