You woke up multiple times that night, unable to convince your mind that Dan was really gone. Every time you'd awake from a nightmare, bolting upright in bed, Gally would sit up beside you, wrapping his strong arms around you and holding onto you until you would finally drift somewhere between sleeping and waking to do it all over again. Dan was gone. You knew that in your head, but your mind, instead of accepting that fact, would replay Dan's banishment over and over again. The pounding rain. The booming thunder. The wet, dripping ivy. The grating sound of the Doors as they shuddered towards each other. The frantic look on Dan's face, wild eyes darting this way and that as he realized what was happening. His final scream as the Doors sealed shut in front of him, cutting him off from the life source of the Maze; the Glade.
You didn't know why it affected you so badly. You were glad that Dan was gone, of course, but there was just something about the entire thing that was unsettling. It must have been far worse for Alby, you knew, having to be the one to initiate such a thing. You didn't want to think about it, but it was as if you had no choice. Those images haunted you, messing with your head, frustratingly keeping you in the semi-conscious state between waking and sleeping, until you were so exhausted that you finally drifted into a numbed state of darkness.

The next thing you knew, warm lips were on yours, kissing you softly, gently. You smiled, coming out of the deep, blank sleep you had finally managed to fall into, stretching your arms over your head and wrapping them around the figure on top of you. When you opened your eyes, Gally's nose was an inch from yours, mouth twisted in a way that looked as if he were trying to smother a grin, but it wasn't working.
The haunting images that were laced into your dreams the night before still lingered in your mind, but they were beginning to fade in the warm, golden glow of early morning which filtered in from outside, and you knew that it was going to be a beautiful day. You smiled at that thought, staring up at your boyfriend as he looked lovingly down at you, green eyes catching the light, making them glow.
"Hey," you said softly, running a hand across his face, his skin smooth and warm beneath your fingertips, still not over the fact that he had finally regained his memories, and that he was here—really here—with you. The strongest, most intriguing boy in the Glade; It felt somewhat unreal, all this time still not fully able to comprehend how or why he had managed to fall in love with you. But he had, and among other things, the way he was looking at you now proved it.
"Morning, Babe," said Gally, his voice rumbling in the way that made your heart melt.
You turned a happily-embarrassed squirm into a stretch, feeling your face flush slightly. You loved it when he called you that.
"It is," you responded, then added. "I'm glad I can finally say that." You closed your eyes for a moment, shoving away the thoughts of the previous night. "I thought that night would never end."
Gally's bright expression fell a bit. "Yeah, that was kind of rough."
"I'm sorry," you said, "I know you didn't get much sleep either."
Gally shrugged. "Watching a Banishing is never easy. I'm just glad it's over and done with."
"Finally," you added.
"Yeah," he said, cocking his head, grin returning. "Finally."
You sighed through a smile, a happy quiver rushing through you as you stared up at his freckled face. As if unable to restrain himself any longer, Gally leaned in and gently laid his lips on yours. You slid your hands up his firm chest and over his strong shoulders, pulling him closer to you, deepening the kiss. The sensation of Gally's warm lips pressed against yours was thrilling, and you loved to lose yourself in it, your heart skipping a beat at his closeness. After a moment, he pulled back, still steadily gazing at you.
