"The lights are so bright, but they never blind me,
Welcome to New York,
it's been waiting for you."

If there's one thing I can count on my aunt Daphne to do; is to show me a good time. Which is what she has been doing since I arrived Friday night.

Friday was the most chill but she still took me out to eat with some of her friends, to this cool spot that's like a rainforest theme.

Saturday, she treated me to a spa day-which was very much needed-we got the full glam, mani's, pedi's, waxing and blowouts. After that we did some shopping and at night we got to go see a Burlesque show.

Which now has me thinking that if I don't make in the show biz, I may just take up some Burlesque dancing.

But thankfully this weekend was a blast.

"What time do you have to take off Thursday?" My aunt Daphne asks.

I sit up on her couch, so I can see her in the kitchen. "I have to be at the airport by six."

She nods and continues to type on her computer and I lay back on the couch reading my book again.

Mondays are usually reset days. Which is why we decided to stay in and order some food and just relax. That way we can do more things for the rest of the days that I'm here.

I love everything about my aunts life here. Her condo is amazing. Looks right out of a fancy magazine. Even her friends are awesome. Meredith is her best friend, she's incredibly cool. Donte is her other closest friend, he-well sorry, she-was my absolute favorite. She's loud, wild and incredibly funny. Had me laughing the whole time. And lastly there is Lara, she's the married friend but still has a lot of free time. She's also the zen one of the bunch.

When I look at my aunt, I always feel so ungrateful because I constantly wonder why she couldn't have been my mom.

And it hurts me to think that way.

After a couple hours Daphne stands from her desk, finally finishing up her work. "Sorry gummy bear, I cleared my work schedule this week for you but there was an emergency."

I smile up at her. "You didn't have to do that."

"Yes, I did." She playfully swats my leg, as she comes to sit next to me on the couch. "I hardly ever get to see or spend time with you so, I'm taking full advantage these few days." And she leans in to kiss the tip of my nose.

I giggle.

My aunt and I order a spread. We decided to have a living room picnic, all spread out on the floor, while binge watching Sex and the City.

"This show is so addicting." She says, leaning back to rest on the couch.

I nod in agreement. "It really is. You remind me of Carrie a bit."
