One of my specialties is to deeply upset my mother. I know just how much she despises a woman to wear pants or shorts at the dinner table. Especially if there are guests present.
Tonight I will be wearing pants at the dinner table.
I had bought some cute skin tight dress pants that I haven't got to wear yet so I thought right now would be the perfect time. I'm just pairing it with a nice dressy top and some heels.
My phone dings as I straighten my hair but I ignore it.
I might be wanting to piss my mom off with my outfit choice and all but I will not be late and do anything to make my dad look bad. He doesn't deserve that.
Again my phone dings.
This time I walk over to my bed and pick it up. My heart begins to race when I see Noah's name on the text notification.
Instead of opening it though, I go back to finish my hair.
He's been staying most nights with me back at school and we hung out the entire day before I had to catch my flight. After he surprised me at the restaurant we still saw each other that night.
Once my makeup is done, I reach for my phone and open Noah's messages. My stomach tightens with excitement.
Noah: Hi Noah: 😌
Me: Hi ☺️
I sit here like an idiot smiling at his text and my body beams with excitement again when I see his chat bubbles pop up.
Noah: How was your flight?
Me: It was good. I actually slept through most of it. How was your drive?
Noah: That's good to hear. And I actually leave tomorrow morning.
A strange sensation crawls over me. And I hate to feel it, let alone put a name to it. Noah isn't mine. So I shouldn't be feeling worried at the thought of him wanting to sleep with someone else.
Me: And the guys already left?
Noah: Miguel & Dom did. Jay's still here with me.
Me: Oh okay. Well be careful when y'all drive back home.
I'm still waiting on his response when a knock on my door startles me. "Yes?" I say.
My door opens and in comes my sister. "Hi." She smiles. And I love how happy she looks to see me here. We've always been so close and with me away she's mostly alone.
