COOKIE

"hey." minji opened her front door, revealing the boy she'd been expecting.

with his right hand, donghyuck brushed aside the loose strands of his dark hair that covered his eyes, to make sure he could properly see the girl. his other hand was grabbing onto a plastic back, which seemed to be filled with all sorts of things.

stepping to the side, minji allowed donghyuck to enter her house before closing the door again. a sweet smile fell onto her face when she looked at him.

"hi. what'd you bring?" a curious look arose on her face, her eyes hinting at the bag in his hand.

donghyuck smiled back and reached his hand inside the bag to reveal what he had brought along with him. "i'm a man of word, if i promised you cookies, i'll make sure to bring them."

minji's eyes lit up after seeing the plastic container filled with which seemed to be homemade chocolate chip cookies. if she was honest, she assumed he was joking when he told her he'd bring cookies, so she was surprised to see he actually did.

"they look good. did you make them yourself?" minji questioned at the sight of the appetizing cookies.

breathing out a slightly guilty laugh, he scratched the back of his neck. "my mom did actually. i can't really bake without burning down the entire house."

he was a little embarrassed that he still had to ask his mom to bake him cookies because his 22-year-old ass couldn't even follow a simple recipe. regardless, minji still found is endearing that he asked his mom to make cookies to bring to her, his so-called enemy.

"tell her i said thank you." she smiled at him.

donghyuck's mother was someone minji had known ever since she couldn't remember. she was a sweet and generous woman who always had his best interest. she was also the best friend of minji's mother, which made it difficult for minji to avoid donghyuck sometimes, since her mother invited them over from time to time.

"you know, she misses you." the boy mentioned. "she always says you're the daughter she never had."

a chuckle escaped her mouth before replied to his previous statement. "well soon i'll be her daughter-in-law." she teased, playfully punching him on his arm while he made fake gag noises.

after a short time, donghyuck had put the cookies on a small plate as minji poured some drinks for them. the two moved over to the couch and sat down in silence as each of them enjoyed the cookies.

"they're really good. they taste exactly the same as when we were young." minji noted as it was the same recipe that his mom had been using for ages.

a feeling of nostalgia took over the moment as it reminded them of their youth. their mothers had always tried their best to make them get along, but unfortunately it couldn't be helped. still, that didn't stop them from believing their two kids would eventually quit their feud and fall in love.

a few moments later, minji broke the silence by a sudden question that had been on her mind. "do you think our pact is childish?" she asked, waiting for the boy opposite her to reply.

"maybe." the simple answer gave away the fact that he didn't really know the answer either. he scratched the back of his next before continuing to speak. "but just because it's childish doesn't necessarily mean it's stupid. it's okay to be a little childish sometimes."

he earned a nod from the girl, who had been stressing about it way too much. she had wondered if the low maturity level of the people at her school had rubbed off on her for her to come up with such an idea, but hearing him say it was okay, made her feel better about it.

"besides, this isn't even childish compared to how the rest of the school behaves. if you think about it, it has made us less childish, because now we can actually talk without pissing each other off."

minji grinned. "who said you don't still piss me of anymore?" she joked, making him roll his eyes at her sarcastic remark. "but thanks, i needed to hear that."

before donghyuck could reply anything, the sound of the doorbell ring startled them, which interrupted their conversation. quickly minji got up and walked over to her front door and opened it to see who it was. what she didn't expect was for two of her friends to stand in front of her door unannounced.

"hey guys, i didn't expect y—"

she tried to prevent them from going in and witnessing her casually hanging out with the last person they'd expect to be there.

however, her actions failed as she was cut off by the two boys who had already shoved past her and made their way into the living room. their jolly facial expressions were short lived as they noticed donghyuck sitting on the couch.
