Adeline drive back to her house in silence. Anger, confusion, and heartbreak coursed through her veins. It was so intense she was worried her – now normal– vines would appear along her arms, her eyes becoming green in the process.

All the things Rosalie and Jasper left for her were sitting in her passenger seat. She couldn't bring herself to look or even glance at it out of fear that her vines would emerge.

She parked in her driveway and grabbed the Burn Book and the guitar. She brushed past her parents and dropped the items off in her closet. Going back again for the rest of the books her eyes found a sticky note on the back of one of the books. How Adeline hadn't seen she doesn't know.

Deciding that she'd deal with it later she shut her car door and carried the rest of her books into her closet.

Only then did she decide to get out of the house and go into the forest to let her emotions run free for just a little bit.

Getting the vague sense that someone or something was watching her Adeline turned around.

Her vines were thornier than ever, they dug into her skin and little drops of blood dripped down her arms where they all fed into a once-white rose on her left wrist. Around the edges the white rose was blood red, the petals absorbed the color and created an ombre of sorts.

Adeline couldn't find what was watching her only a pair of eyes that were taller than they should be for a wolf or bear.

On the plane ride to New York Adeline read through one of the books Jasper had annotated. The book was called If he had been with me. Adeline picked it up solely based on the cover: two heart lollipops on either side of the title, the one on the left fine, the one on the right shattered. The cover seemed fitting for the heartbreak she was feeling.

When they got to the hotel Adeline fell onto the bed she would be sharing with Saige. The hotel was nice.

Their father had his business conference of some sort the next afternoon.

Adeline didn't care she just lay there like a starfish in the hotel room while her parents and sister went downstairs to get some snacks. When they returned they would get dinner: Adeline's choice. It was her 18th birthday after all.

Eighteen. That was when it all went wrong, wasn't it? All the tragedies happen when the main character turns eighteen. Bella is the perfect example. She was the reason the Cullens left. Adeline knew she shouldn't blame Bella but when your hurting you need someone to blame. Bella was the easiest to blame, wasn't she?

She cheated on Edward with her best friend. She was the one with blood so sweet it caused tracker vampires to set out and hunt her.

But maybe it wasn't fair to blame Bella maybe it was easier to blame–.

The door to the hotel room opened pulling Adeline from her thoughts. Adeline sat herself up to see who was there: just her family.

"You ready to go to dinner?" Her father asked.

"Yep, I think I know where I want to go."
