Chapter Twenty-Eight: Unexpected Foe

Kai's POV

I dribble the ball in between my legs before cuttin around the dummy and laying the ball into the hoop, I nod as I take notes in my head of how I did that before going back to my previous spot and doing it again

I do it a few more times before looking over and seeing my brother walking out of the house with his slight limp

"Hey Manny....wanna shoot around a little" I say excitedly

"Nah...mom said to come in soon and ice up" He says before limping back to the back door and walking in, I sigh as I watch his legs that's in a metal brace

I sigh before shooting the ball a few times and practicing some flashy moves before calling it a day and walking into the house

"Kai baby, here...go relax, dinner is almost ready" My mom says and I smile and take my ice packs and kiss her cheek

"Thanks mama" I say, I glance at Emmanuel who is looking at me with slight distaste which I just choose to ignore

I sit down on the couch before putting the ice packs on my knees and sighing in relief, my dad isn't here to help me because of a business trip which sucks

"What's for dinner mama" I say as I watch her and Emmanuel set up, well my mom setting up and telling Emmanuel to go sit down and relax his leg instead of trying to help

"Some tacos, found a new recipe online" She yells back before turning to Emmanuel who is reaching up to get a bowl with some difficulty

"Emmanuel Christopher if you don't sit yo ass down, you gon mess your leg up more, I got it and if I need help I'll ask Kai" My mom scolds causing my brother to sigh before going to the dinner table and sitting in his usual seat

I get up and waddle over to my mom and get the bowl my brother was trying to get from the top shelf before handing it to my mom

"Thank you baby....put the salsa in the bowl while I set the others up" She asks and I mid before pouring the salsa in the bowl and taking it to the table before sitting down

"Ok..let's eat" My mom says and we all dig in

I look up at my brother who is just aimlessly putting his taco together, he looks unhappy and I don't blame him but why is he acting weird towards me

"So Manny, how's school been" I ask

"It's been fine" He says not even looking up at me, ok rude

"Well....you still allowed to watch practice...like do a little coaching...makin them run laps" I say teasingly and my brother looks at me angrily causing my smile to fall immediately

"Yea.....how you been though...heard you could barely play at Dalton" He says and I frown at his tone

"Yea uh...they had some racist and biased people there" I say as I eat my food but I keep looking at my brother who looks more bitter the more he looks at me

"Well that sucks.....looks like your doing well at McKinley....be a shame if you fucked up" Emmanuel says and I look at him twisted as does our mom

"Emmanuel!" my mom scolds

"What? I'm just sayin, don't think your all that cause your not" Emmanuel says bitterly and I feel the hurt hit me deep and I just look down at my food

"Emmanuel that's enough, you bein rude for no reason" My mom scolds him once again and Emmanuel just sighs

"I...I need to take my pain meds, knee's startin to hurt" He says sadly before excusing himself from dinner, I just stare at my food as my feel my mom grab my hand comfortingly

"Your special Kai....I'll talk to him, he's just angry after getting injured" My mom says and I nod but remain silent for the rest of dinner

I walk with Isaiah as he talks to me about Quinn for the fifteenth time this week, he really wants this girl and I can't blame him but damn

Just ask her out

"Bro, do you think she like black guys....or is she the type to only like football players" Isaiah asks causing me to laugh and shake my head

"Isaiah just ask her out....I mean if my shy ass was able to ask Mercedes put then you can talk to Quinn" I say and Isaiah sighs but before he can respond I feel someone push me causing me to fall into the lockers

"Yo what is your problem man" I hear Isaiah say as I watch him shove Karofsky to the ground and his buddy Azimio pushing Isaiah away from him

"You better get out my face, we just showin this freak who runs shit here" Azimio says and I get up and I go to swing but suddenly I'm stopped by Isaiah and Mr.Shuester who pull me away

"Hey hey...calm down" Mr.Shue says as he pushes me towards the principals office

I pull away from them and stare off down the hallways as Karofsky and Azimio mock and taunt me as they walk away high fiving each other

"Office now!" Mr.Shue says as he points into the office, I glare at him before walking into the office to see Sue sitting at the desk

"Butt chin, beanstalk, Kai, what is the meaning of this" Sue says causing me to sigh as I sit down in front of her desk

"Kai got into a fight with the two other students , as well as Isaiah here" Mr.Shue says and I look at him twisted

"I didn't fight them, I swung on them after Karofsky pushed me into the locker and called me a freak, Isaiah only defended me" I explain as Sue looks from Mr.Shue to me

"That's not what I heard and saw" Mr.Shue rebuttals and I go to argue with him but Sue stops me

"I believe you Kai, Dave Karofsky has a past with bullying Porcelain and I believe this is my chance to act, but I will say that there will be no fighting...you two can leave" Sue says and I nod before getting up

"Sue come on, there needs to be punishment for fighting or staring fights" Mr.Shue says causing me to look at him

"Will I am doing the right thing by giving a warning and weather you want to continue to be racially biased outside of glee or not, I suggest you stay out of this or I will burn all of your variety of vests and your hair gel" Sue says causing Mr.Shue to shut his mouth and just shake his head

"Wait who's Porcelain" I ask confused

"Porcelain is the only other gay kid out to the school...now head to class, I have to call my lawyer" Sue says and I nod before walking out and with Isaiah

"That asshole is the one that always passes on Mercedes...hate that guy" Isaiah says and I nod

"Me too....signing up for glee next year is going to be hard" I say as we walk to class together
