Chapter Thirty-Eight: First Day Blues

Kai's POV

I smile as I park my car in the parking lot of the school, I look over and kiss Mercedes as she smiles adoringly at me

"Ready for the first day of senior year" I say as I unbuckle my seatbelt and gather my stuff including my boxing stuff so I can grab it, I'm going to train with Blaine and Joshua after school since I need to stay in shape for basketball

"As ready as I can be....can't believe this is the last year we'll be here together" Mercedes says sadly and I sigh as grab her hands and hold them tightly

"Baby...I haven't decided on a college yet...and with you gunning for NYADA and PENN...we may be closer than you'd think" I say and Mercedes sighs

"I don't want you choosing a college near me just because you want to be close to me or go to college with me...as romantic as that is" She replies and I sigh with my shoulders slumping

"I need you to be your own person...not follow me and think of basketball second when that's your career' Mercedes says and I smirk at her

"Fine...but just so you know...there's more than just basketball..that's what my Dad taught me and if I'm going to marry you...then I need to remember that...it shouldn't be hard though" I say and Mercedes pecks my lips before getting out

I sigh and get out too before getting my stuff from the back, I shut my car door and lock it while looking at McKinley feeling a sense of sadness and excitement

I walk over to Mercedes and grab her hand as we walk to the school, I look over as see some kids staring at us and some of my teammates standing off to the side

I wave to them before opening the door for Mercedes' and walking in to see chaos with freshman freaking out and being bullied by some football players already

Girls crowding the hallways with their friends and guys goofing around like usual, I sigh as I look at Mercedes' who's looks just as annoyed as I do

"Great...this is gonna be an interesting day" I say rolling my eyes

"Tell me about it" Mercedes replies, I feel a shadow person behind me and the smell of Victoria secret perfume and coffee

"See the chaos Sue" I say as Sue leans beside me and I look at her to see her sneering at the new kids

"Fresh meat always looks good...can't wait to break hearts at tryouts today...but good luck to you later bean stalk...Aretha" Sue says as she looks from me to Mercedes before leaving

I chuckle as Mercedes huffs

"How do you get along with her" Mercedes asks as we walk the hallway and dodge freshman running to class and sophomores trying to be tough towards upperclassman

"I get along with weird people" I say as we look for our lockers, I cut a deal with Principal Figgins to let Mercedes and I have our lockers next to each other

I did help the school win their first basketball championship

I smile as we reach our lockers and open them, I put my stuff in my locker and as I do, I glance over to see Kurt and Blaine walking over with Isaiah on Blaine's back

"Speaking of weird" I say looking at my three best friends, Isaiah got close to everyone on the trip to the beach house and after with him and Blaine being the closest somehow

I don't question it

"Hey guys...let me see your schedules..I need to see who is gonna make my senior year entertaining in what classes" Kurt says as he greets and hugs Mercedes and i with Isaiah and Blaine doing the same

"Here...got mostly electives" I say as I hand him my schedule

"Lucky....I missed a math so now I have double math" Isaiah complains and Blaine rolls his eyes

"You got double math...I'm staying here while you all leave" Blaine says as he folds his arms like a child

"Not my fault Kurt likes them young" Isaiah says and Blaine pokes his side causing Isaiah jump before putting Blaine in a headlock that Blaine fights against

"Don't mess up my hair!" Blaine yells as he tries to get out of Isaiah's hold

I sigh as I look to Kurt and Mercedes who are talking but Kurt looks at me suddenly

"So Kai...you got your song for glee tryouts....I'm so excited to hear it and see the look on Mr.Shue's face as he realizes your amazing' Kurt says enthusiastically

"Yea and I can't wait for him to hesitantly let you in" Mercedes jokes as she leans into me

"Yea...I got my song and it's nothing he's heard...since I heard about the rapping...I'm gonna introduce him to some music he can't try and emulate" I say confidently

"Emulate horribly might I add" Santana says as she walks up to us with Quinn and Brittany in toe

"Yea...I'm tired of hearing him try to rap songs knowing he looks Michael Bublé's little brother" Quinn says as she pulls Isaiah away from Blaine and into her embrace

"Well I am confident he'll see my talent" I say with a shrug

"Not over Berry he won't...that's why Mercedes had to branch off...just don't get your hopes up" Santana says

"Sounds like a challenge...I'm into it" I say with a smirk and Santana just rolls her eyes while smiling and wrapping her arm around Brittany's waist

"I don't want you guys to leave after this year" Brittany says sadly and I pout while Santana comforts her

"It's finna be ok guys...we'll all still be friends no matter what" Mercedes says confidently causing the group to nod, the bell rings and we all sigh before splitting apart with it just being Mercedes and I left

"And onward we go" I say unenthusiastically as I close my locker and walk Mercedes to her class

"Look who's more glum" Mercedes teases and I chuckle a bit while bumping her slightly while we walk

"It just sunk in that Blaine and Brittany aren't gonna be graduating with us...tried ignoring it on the trip but I can't now" I say as we get to her class

"Well...we have all year to spend with them...and each other...get to class before your in trouble...I wanna see you after school" She says and I nod before pecking her lips and watching her walk into her class

I sigh before walking to mine, running my hands through my hair

Senior year....already stressed
