Chapter Three: Life as a Warbler

Kai's POV

I walk to the big brown doors of the Warblers choir room and stand there nervously, I already tried out but this is my first glee meeting and I'm the only girl here so I'm nervous

I let out a breath and open the door to see all the guys standing around, joking and laughing with each other till one of them stops mid sentence and looks at me shocked causing the rest to do the same

"Hello....you must be Kai" One of them says causing me to nod as I walk towards the guy who spoke, he puts his hand out for me shake with this smile on his face

"Yea......I'm one of the new Warblers, I didn't see you at my tryout" I say awkwardly as I shake his hand and look around

"I'm Sebastian...I wasn't there but something tells me your going to help us out" He says with a smirk, I smile a bit and nod

"Yea, I hope so.....so what are we singing today" I say as I sit down on one of the couches

"Oh well we don't know, Blaine hasn't arrived yet so we're waiting for him" Sebastian says as he smirks at me, what is this guys deal he's creeping me out

"Ok...." I say awkwardly as I look at my phone, I go to my Blaines contact and text Blaine to see where he's at

I swipe out of his conversation and see Mercedes's contact, my finger hovers over it as I debated on texting her, we haven't talked since we got into school and it's bugging me a lot, she's been on my mind since we said goodbye but I'm scared that she doesn't wanna hear from me

I close my phone reluctantly as the doors shoot open and Blaine comes in, I smile as he starts singing Teenage Dream

I stand up and sing with the rest of the warblers as I watch Blaine sing, we all dance with him and Blaine smiles at me as we joke around mid way through as we sing

The sing ends and I dap up Blaine before looking to the rest of the group, I see the Sebastian guy looking at me with a frown very present on his face in the background

I look away from him immediately as I keep feeling that weird and anxious feeling like he's a little off

I watch my dad as he stands in front of me, I step one foot out before stepping back then driving to the paint and I lay the ball up into the basket

I smile as I go back to the line and my father passes the ball to me, I do the same but I try and throw him off and I step back and shoot a three

I smile as it goes through the net perfectly

"You sly little motha- that was a good one, great work today I'm proud of you" My father says and he comes over to me and kisses my sweaty forehead and I smile at him

"Thanks dad" I say, he smiles before pulling me over to him and I look at him intently

"Kai......I want to make sure that you get this, while I'm proud of you when you are successful and you do your best and succeed but remember that I'll be just as proud of you if you try your best and  fail or you fail and just fail at things you knew you could do better" He says and I nod in understanding

"Ok...I love you now go get showered, you smell like shit" He says causing me to laugh at him before pulling him into a hug

"I love you Dad" I say

"I love you too" He say before pulling away and we make our way into the house

"Hey you two, y'all have fun out there" My mom says as she makes dinner, my dad and I  walk over and I kiss one cheek while my father does the same on the other side

"Yup..but dad said I said I stink so I'll be back mama" I say causing her to laugh

"Yea go shower before dinner baby" Mama says and I nod and put my basketball by my stuff bear the door before skipping up the stairs as I make my way to my room, I grab my room and my speaker before heading to my room

I check my phone to only see a text from Blaine and the Warbler group chat, I sigh before going to Spotify and turning my music on as it connects to my speaker and staring my shower

I undress and get into the shower, I wash my body and make sure I'm clean from the workout I did and the practice I had after school in the gym

I finish my shower and get out and put on some shorts and a tank top before slipping on my socks and grabbing my speaker and phone, I turn my speaker off and get out of Spotify and see I still don't have a text from Mercedes

I miss her so much but I'm scared to text her, what if she only saw us as a fling and that's it

I sigh and just head downstairs to see my parents kissing lovingly as they set up the dinner table, I smile as I see the things I want in my life when I get married

"Hey Kai...dinners ready sweetheart come make your plate" Mama says, I do as she says and we all sit down and say grace before eating

"So how was your first day at Dalton" My Dad says

"It was good, kinda fun to sing and glee club is kinda cool and so is the basketball team" I say with a smile

"That's great Kai, I'm happy that we made the right choice with that school, especially with them being inclusive for everyone" Mama says and I nod

"Yea plus they have the great programs and classes so you can do great in both sports and academics" My Dad says and I just nod, see my father isn't really interested in music that much so I don't correct him when he just speaks about sports and only sports

I mean I play basketball so it's fine...I guess

We continue eating and I help my parents with the dishes before wishing them a Goodnight and heading to my room, I lay on my bed as I look at my phone and text Blaine back

He's worried about sectionals and his relationship with Kurt given that he goes to a McKinley who is also going to sectionals, I go out of his messages and I see Mercedes contact

I sigh and go into it and just stare at it for a minute

I'll never know if she feels the same way if I don't text her and find out

I let out a deep breath before texting her

Me: Hey Gorgeous...haven't talked in a while

I let out a deep breath as I put my phone beside me and close my eyes as I wait for a response patiently

Five minutes goes by and I sigh and just put my phone on the charger before turning over the other way

Just as I do I hear a ding causing me to swiftly turn over and see a text from Mercedes

My Queen <3: Hey handsome, I've missed you

I smile gleefully as I text her back, we continue talking before we both decide to go to sleep for the night, we say goodnight and I close my phone and close my eyes with a smile on my face

This girl got me in a chokehold

A/n ok I like this book a lot lol and I may have it be a little fast because I don't know if I wanna go with the plot all the way
