"Now add the butter." I guided Zamora.

She dumped the butter into the bowl. She looked over at me for reassurance and I smiled at her. I gave her a high five and she beamed.

"Well done. Now add the sugar."

I was letting her do all the pouring and dumping since I'd done all of the measurements already.

She was stood in her step stool thing. It was designed for kids. She could stand on it and it had barriers around it, so she couldn't fall off or out.

"I'm done, mommy." She turned to me again.

"Ok, now I'm going to put the mixer here. You get to hold it with me." She got excited as she waited for me to get the mixer.

I placed her hand on the handle, with my hand over hers and we started mixing the mixture in the bowl.

For whatever reason, she found it hilarious. She was giggling the whole time. A smile spread across my face from her giggles.

"We're finished now. Let me get the cupcake tray, then we can add the mixture." I left her on the stool and went to grab the tray.

It was already lined with the cupcake cup things.

"I'm going to pour the batter in. You can lick the spoon." I handed her the wooded spoon.

She wasted no time digging into the batter.

I poured all of the mixture into the little cups. Once I was done, I placed the tray in the oven and left the cupcakes to bake.

"Show me your hands." She dropped the wooden stick and I looked at her hands. "They need some cleaning."

I opened the little side door to her stool and she walked down the little stairs. I moved the stool in front of the sink and she walked back into it to wash her hands.

"Review on the batter?"

"It was very sweet. I wish it was chocolate. 9/10." She rated it and I smiled.

"Thank you, Inspector Zamora." I helped her down the stool. "You can go play whilst I clean."

She ran off somewhere and I wiped down the counters. I loved cooking with Zamora. She was always so eager to help me.

As I cleaned, Zamora ran back into the kitchen with my phone.

"I couldn't read it but that's Aunt Lo's face." She explained as she pointed to my ringing phone.

She couldn't read anything longer than 5 letters. So I was proud of her for connecting the dots. I took the phone from her and she left again.

"Nicki!" Lauren shouted through the phone.

"You're always yelling for no good reason." I chuckled. "What are you doing, wifey?"

"Nothing. Just thought I'd keep you company."

"I'm glad you were thinking about me. I know I was thinking about you."

"You do this every time I talk to you. I have a man?" She said in a duh tone.

"He doesn't have to know. I've told you already. How is Ermando anyway?"

"He's good. We just finished taking a nap. Now he's going to the store to buy sandwich things. He's gonna cook for me." The word 'nap' meant a completely different thing.

"You're disgusting." I fake gagged.

"Don't be jealous. I'm sure BK is a phone call away." I could tell she stuck her tongue out.
