Onika's POV
Rowland Household
July 9

"Which wine?" Kelly presented me with 2 bottles.

"Red, always." I chirped and she went to put the white away.

She came back with two wine glasses and sat next to me. She tucked her feet under her butt, like me, as she sat comfortably.

Kelly was my new best friend, in addition to Lauren and Robyn.

"More." I requested and she poured half of my glass. She handed me the glass and I thanked her.

She poured her own glass before putting the glass on the coffee table. "Let me tell you the tea."

"Spill." I sat up, giving her my undivided attention.

"Tim went to drop Titan off before he went to work and tell me why he told me one of Titan's teachers was flirting with him." She paused to sip her wine. "I literally went in the next day with Tim and showed the fuck out."

"What'd you do?" I sipped my wine.

"I went there and the bitch was stumped when I checked her. She started apologising, talking about some 'I didn't know he was married' but he got a bold ass ring on his finger." She rolled her eyes.

"So she tried to play dumb? Didn't you also say Tim told her that he was married?"

"Yes! He did, but she still wanted to play up in my face. I had to bring out my lawyer vocab and show her who the fuck she was talking to." She sassed and I hyped her.

We tried not to be loud. The kids were asleep upstairs, but they could still probably hear us if they tried.

"Now, what's your tea?" She gracefully drank from her glass.

"Your best friend." I sighed, with a smile on my face.

"Oh." She smirked.

"Uh huh."

"So you do like her?"

"Yes." I covered my face. "And I hate it."

"Why? Bey is not that bad." She tried to sell and we both burst out laughing. Not at Beyoncé, but at the fact we were having this conversation.

"I just feel like maybe I'm moving on too quick from my last relationship."

"That's fine for you to think." She agreed. "But moving on is something that you decide when you want to do and with who. So there's no 'moving on too quick'"

"I really like her." I sighed. I was stuck in a rut. "I have something else to tell you."

"What?"

"We kissed." I blurted.

"What?!" She practically shouted and I had to hush her.

"Not making out type kissing, literally just pecks."

"Pecks? As in plural."

"We've kissed on multiple occasions." I shrugged, trying not to make it a big deal, even though it was a big deal.

Kelly didn't even say anything. She was still in shock, drinking her wine.

"It's not a big deal."

"You saying that it's not a big deal makes it a big deal."

"I enjoy her company a lot. I love hugging her because she seems so mean but she's really not." I paused. "I just like her."

"Does she know?"

"I'd hope so, she won't stop kissing me." I momentarily closed my eyes.

"Would you be open to dating her?"

"I mean...yeah."

"Why the uncertainty?" She was trying so hard to be a therapist. I cracked a smile.

"What if she can't be faithful? I only know of one of her past relationships but I don't even know anything about that. I just know she was in one." I explained and she nodded her head as I spoke. "Did she get her heartbroken or something? When we were talking she just ended the conversation."

"It's not my place to say." Kelly spoke, softening her eyes. "That's something she'll tell you when she's ready."

"I'm willing to wait." I thought I said in my head.

"That's what my best friend needs. In my opinion, Bey has all the necessary qualities to be a good partner but no one knows because she hasn't been in a committed relationship in years."

"But people all over New York were talking about how she's a hoe. She's not a hoe is she?"

"She's definitely not a hoe. Sometimes I call her that, but she's not. She's only had sex with probably only 5 people. In the last 8 years."

"So like one person every two years?"

"More like, 1 person for 4 years, then 1 person per year for 4 years. She's very particular about the people she sleeps with. She can literally go months without sex though."

I nodded my head.

"I've had too much wine. Bey would kill me for telling her business like that. I'm so sorry." She was taken back by her own rambling.

"It's not any of my business either, so I'll just let that go in and out of my ears." I chuckled.

We both sat in silence and drank our wine, before moving onto our next conversation.

"So what are you doing for Z's birthday?"

"I was going with a Minnie Mouse theme because everyone knows she loves that animal." I leaned my elbow on the back of her couch.

"Oh my gosh, Bey was on the phone yelling at a balloon company about that earlier." She laughed, whilst placing her glass down.

"I didn't even have to tell her the theme, she was on it when Zamora randomly reminded her that her birthday was coming around."

"She loves that little girl." Kelly softly smiled. "She's always wanted a daughter, you know."

"Did I tell you?" I slightly sat up. "Mora told Bey that she loved her. On the Fourth of July."

"That explains why Bey was so happy the whole day. She's been so happy lately." Kelly confessed and I raised a brow.

I wonder what's making her so happy.

"I love their bond. It's the cutest thing ever."
I smiled to myself. "But yeah, I already started planning everything and the people are coming to decorate my house the night before."

"What's the birthday girl wearing?"

"Something Bey picked out. We argued for 10 minutes straight before I let her pick it. I was going to put something simple on her so that she could get it messed up if she wanted."

"We're just thinking like mothers." She waved me off and I nodded.

"That girl is adorable but she can make a mess. I sent her to school with two braided pigtails and she came home with a ponytail." I sighed, remembering days prior.

"Kids will do that to you."

We both ended up reminiscing on motherly experiences before I went to sleep in the guest room.
