Beyoncé's POV
Hospital
May 30

"I was meant to be in Houston on the 21st but I can't leave until Nicki is awake." I spoke to Kelly on the phone.

"You can't or you won't?"

I thought for a second before responding. "I can't."

"Her family is in New York, she would be fine without you there. I'm not saying you shouldn't stay but I'm just pointing that out." She said, making me think.

"What if she doesn't wake up?"

"Bey, you told me exactly what the doctors said. She's going to wake up and you'll be fine."

"You said she'd wake up in the next week and it's been a week since she's been admitted. She hasn't woke up yet." I stressed to the doctor.

"I understand how frustrating this is, but her body could be rejecting all the things happening to her." He explained, trying to keep me calm. "Her body is under a lot of pressure."

"Then get her medication or tube things that her body won't reject."

"It's not that easy."

"Can y'all fix her or not?" I asked.

"Miss Knowles, we are doing everything we can. All we can do right now is wait for her to wake." He said. That caused me to groan. "I am truly s-"

"Leave." I dismissed him.

He just nodded and left the room. I began pacing.

All of this because of one mistake. Of all people, she didn't deserve this. I needed her to be fine. Her friends needed her to be fine. Her daughter needed her to be fine.

A lot of people were relying on her being ok.

I walked over to the hospital bed and stroked her hair back. The normal colour of her skin still hadn't been restored. She was quite pale.

"Please wake up." I murmured as I looked down at her. "Your body is just as stubborn as you are. Why are you rejecting things?"

I stood there, speaking to myself. That's what I'd been doing for days at a time. It's not like I could leave her. I wasn't planning on going anywhere either.

"Can I tell you something, Kels?"

"Always." She propped her phone up so I could see her properly. Then I turned my own camera on. "Have you gotten any sleep?"

"Not really, it's still business as usual. I have to make sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to and find the second attacker."

"Promise me you'll sleep tonight."

"I promise. Hospital chairs are not comfortable."

She gave me a look before speaking. "You've been camped out at her hospital?"

"Yes, so I can keep a close eye on her."

"Yeah, sure." She smirked. "Now tell me what you were going to say."

"I miss Gia." She nodded for me to continue. "Like when I saw Nicki hooked to all the stuff, it reminded me of when I saw Gia in that OR. It's like I was getting flashbacks. Even in the waiting room, it was like the day of the accident."

"I'm so sorry, Bey."

I subtly swiped a tear before it left my eye.

"It just sucks. I'm so close to getting the people who did it but it just feels like I'm losing it." I expressed. "Every time I'm a step from getting them, something else brings me a thousand steps back. Now I know for sure there's something holding me back."
