Onika's POV
CVS
April 7
It'd been throwing up like crazy for the past few days. I looked and felt a mess.
When I got back in New York, I initially told Robyn and Lauren. They bombarded me with questions and rightfully wanted an explanation.
I couldn't muster up the strength to do anything but lay in bed and just think. I started spacing out a lot more and talking a lot less.
Meek was barely at my apartment and spent his time away from me. That's what I needed. I didn't want to be around anyone. I couldn't be around anyone.
I couldn't even handle looking after Zamora so I pleaded with my mother to keep her until I was feeling better. The thing is, I didn't start feeling better. I started feeling worse with every hour that went by.
Today was my first time leaving my apartment and it was horrible. I threw on some leggings and a tank top with a hoodie over it. I had on some shades and some slides.
I hadn't left my apartment since I landed back in New York. As of me going to CVS, I hadn't showered in a day. I didn't have the energy.
When I got to CVS I went straight to the family planning aisle and bought 2 different boxes of pregnancy tests. I knew I was pregnant because these were the same symptoms I had when I was pregnant with Zamora.
Before I walked to the cashier and waited to pay, I grabbed a bunch of snacks. She scanned the items and told me the price.
"That'll be $43.90." I scanned my card and it was accepted. "Would you like a bag?"
I nodded my head as she packed the stuff into the plastic bag. I thanked her and exited the store. When I got in my car, I sat parked for 10 minutes before pulling out.
I decided to go to a drive thru so I could get some food in my system. I hadn't eaten any real food in days and it was starting to take a toll on me. I barely got out of bed today.
I went to a McDonald's drive thru and ordered some fries. When I got my order I didn't eat them straight away. I waited until I got home before I ate them.
I ate 7 fries before I threw them away. I could barely get any food down so I wasn't going to try. After I threw them away, I ran to the bathroom and started vomiting. Some of it got in my hair but I couldn't do anything about that.
I vomited until my stomach was touching my back and I could barely stand to wash my mouth out. So I stayed on the floor for a few minutes before standing and flushing the toilet.
I rinsed my mouth out with mouthwash before going to get the pregnancy tests from the kitchen. I got them all out of the box and lined them up by the sink.
I undressed myself so I could shower and wash the vomit from my body and hair. Before I hopped in the shower, I took all the tests then I started my shower.
After a while of washing the soap suds off my body, I felt dizzy because of all the steam. So I quickly got out. I walked past the tests and got dressed.
I threw on some shorts and a tank top before throwing my hair into a sloppy bun on my head. I went back into the bathroom and uncovered all the tests.
They were all positive.
I placed my hands on the sink and dropped my head as I looked down at the floor. I released a deep sigh before throwing all the tests away.
I tied up the trash and took it to the kitchen trash can. I might as well take all the trash out.
I put on my slippers and walked out of the apartment to the garbage pick up area.
As I exited my apartment, I bumped into someone. When I looked and saw Bey, I rolled my eyes. Then I did a double take.
"How do you know where my apartment is?"
"Process of elimination." Her eyes pierced into mine. "Your friends have been worried sick about you. Your friend Lauren called me from the school office asking if I knew where you were. When did you come back?"
"9 days ago." I closed my door behind me. The longer I stayed standing, the dizzier I became. "I don't mind talking to you, but can we walk and talk?"
"Sure." She followed me down the stairs to the back door
"So why are you here?"
"You look sick. Have you eaten?"
"I just finished some food before you came." I lied whilst throwing the trash bag in the garbage bin.
"Where's your boyfriend?"
"I don't know, he hasn't been here in a few days."
"How many days?"
"Three." She nodded her head, then started texting on her phone as we walked back to my apartment. "Why?"
"Nothing. Why haven't you been to the strip?" She didn't stop typing until we got to my floor.
"You've gone there looking for me? I'm flattered." We reached the door and I didn't go in.
"I'm not used to Barbie not being on stage when I go there." She joked and I rolled my eyes again.
"Are you flirting with me? I'm really not in the mood today."
"No but do you want me to pick Zamora up from school tomorrow? They were going to have a play date and your mother said it was ok."
"That's fine. Thank you so much for..." I stopped talking because I didn't really know what I was thanking her for. She'd practically looked after my daughter too. "Taking care of Mora."
"No problem." She spoke before receiving a phone call. She looked at the caller ID before looking back at me. "Please call your friends. They're worried about you."
"I will." I went into my apartment and locked my door behind myself.
I could tell she wasn't just here to ask about Meeks whereabouts.
When I got a chance to sit down, I could feel my head spinning. I needed to eat something but I couldn't keep anything down.
I forced myself into the kitchen and grabbed a bag of Lays. I ate as many as I could before feeling sick. I closed the pack and placed it on the counter before going to my room.
My head was pounding when I laid down. Although it was still quite early in the day, I went to sleep.
As I fell asleep, all I could think about was my Zamora. I felt like a bad mother but I needed some time to myself. Especially since I hadn't been in the right state of mind. But I still felt guilt for practically neglecting my daughter.
