"You left him a WHAT?!"

Fae shoved her head even further into her squishmellow and mumbled, "I left him a flower!!"

"I can't hear you admit to being an idiot when your face is smushed like that." Kendra ripped away the cat pillow. "Now, come again?"

Fae flapjacked onto the bed and fake sobbed, "I'm sorry, okay?? I just felt terrible! I nearly blinded the poor man, so I felt like I needed to let him know I was sorry."

"Fae, I'm not fucking going through that torture again to get all dressed up like you just to water your damn flowers again. Shinso and his goons were literally lying in wait last time I went there!"

She pursed her lips and pouted dramatically. "Don't blame my flowers for that trip! We both know you had to go to leave the breadcrumb trail for them to follow."

"Yeah but that shit hurts, and Paynte is weird!! I'm not doing it in the name of watering your stupid purple flowers," Kendra grumpily grumbled as she aggressively hugged the now stolen squishy pillow.

Fae rolled over on her stomach and bounced her heels off her butt. "It's not too bad! It only stings for a little bit, and besides, those flowers are important."

Kendra's temper was a fickle thing, and her previous grievances with Fae giving up her identity to Shinso by leaving him a flower was completely forgotten. Now she was simply pensive as she asked, "I know you can't tell me exactly what you see in your prophesies since that could accidentally change them, but it is very annoying how indirect we have to be with steering Shinso toward this mysterious future role he's to play."

Fae felt her heart clench at the mention of the upcoming events. Kendra was right, she couldn't share the burden of her foresight with anyone lest the mysterious workings of fate change it in punishment for her meddling. Alas she was able to say, "you just gotta trust me, Ken. Someday you'll really come to like him."

"I'd rather like olives, and you know how I feel about those slimy salty eyeballs."

When Kendra shuttered dramatically, Fae  hummed in her eerie enlightened voice, "Hitoshi was a wonderful boy, and he's grown into a splendid man!"

Kendra stopped being grossed out about olives polluting her martinis and instead inquired, "Fae?"

"Hmm?"

"You never did tell me, how'd you first meet Hitoshi?"

Fae played with a single strand of her golden blonde hair to semi-distract herself from the memories that occurred so long ago that it nearly felt like another lifetime. "I met him in elementary school."

"Before you were thrown into a trunk and carted off to the Miserable Mansion?"

"It wasn't all bad at that place," Fae smiled softly. "I got to meet you there."

"Yes in between unimaginably painful experiments, you got to hang out with muwah, so I guess it was worth it!" Kendra laughed sarcastically before launching the squishy pillow back at Fae who broke out in laughter-filled protest. "But stay on task! So you met the string bean in elementary school. Then what?"

Fae shrugged shyly. "Then we became friends."

Hitoshi was sitting by himself scribbling on his paper with his favorite purple crayon. His classmates were too scared to talk to him because of his quirk, so he had grown accustomed to being alone. A small part of the silent child figured he'd spend the rest of his life that way- a quiet existence with minimal human interaction, but fate had a way of intervening in unexpected ways.
