Shinso sat on the ground of the classroom and rocked nervously. He grabbed ahold of his wild purple hair and admitted, "I didn't know this would happen. I didn't know this would happen, I swear."
Hizashi patted his boy on the back comfortingly. "Hitoshi, what did happen?"
"I brought her back here, and we were talking. I-I was mad because she was lying to me. I thought everything she had said was a lie. She knows who I am. She's known who I am for decades, but she didn't tell me who she was."
"You didn't know her name?"
"No, I knew her name, but I couldn't remember- I couldn't remember who she was," Shinso's voice broke as he dashed away his single frustrated tear.
Aizawa looked at his husband who was wearing the same grim expression. They knew there was darkness lingering in their son's heart. They had tried their best to give him all the love and support they could, but they had known there were deep-rooted traumas from his time before their family that he had left buried. All of them assumed that those graves would remain undisturbed, but it seemed the woman lying unconscious on the ground had sung the song of the dead and raised some pretty horrific memories because neither of the pro heroes had seen Shinso look so destroyed as he did right then.
Aizawa squeezed Shinso's big hand and murmured, "Don't worry kid. We'll figure this out, okay?"
"Is she going to be okay?" Shinso asked in genuine concern as he felt like crying in guilt for causing this.
"I think so. You called her friend- the one you said knows her well, right?"
Shinso nodded quickly and looked down at Fae's phone Hizashi had retrieved from her classroom. "I called who I believe is Kendra, but she didn't respond."
Aizawa brushed Fae's golden hair away from her sleeping face. "Recovery Girl confirmed nothing is wrong with her physically, and we know her quirk isn't running since there was nothing for me to erase."
"Hitoshi, have you ever seen someone react this way to your quirk?"
"Never. Denki...he would always get hard when he's under my quirk, but that was more to do with his kinks than my actual quirk."
"I didn't need to know that today," Hizashi scratched his little yellow mustache.
"I didn't need to know that ever," Shota shuttered.
Shinso clasped his hands in between his knees and closed his eyes to keep his frustrated tears at bay. "I can't believe I did this to her. I used my quirk on her because I needed to know that at least something she told me was true. I wanted to confirm that she was my Fae, but my anger got the better of me. I asked about Rin instead of just checking that she was who I thought she was." He clenched his jaw hard enough his teeth screamed in protest, "I'm such a fucking asshole."
Hizashi kissed his purple hair and hugged him. "You didn't know this would happen. Don't beat yourself up too much, son. She'll be okay, and then you can apologize, okay?"
Fury that matched the kind Shinso was directing at himself reverberated down the hallway. Kendra screamed at the top of her lungs, "FUCKING BRAINWASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Aizawa got to his feet and placed his hand on Shinso's chest protective. "Stay here."
"Dad I'm not a kid anymore."
He stared at his boy. "Son? Stay. Here."
"I'm the one that fucked up. I deserve whatever she's about to do to me."
"That attitude is exactly why you're not going out there. You can let Eri beat the crap out of you later, but I'm not letting someone kill my son." Shota ruffled messy purple hair that was so much like his own. "Stay with Hiz."
