Chapter 24- Remembering

It was later that same evening, and no matter how many texts and calls Denki sent, Shinso never picked up nor responded. Thus by the time 9 PM rolled around, Kaminari was an absolute ball of uncontrolled nerves. Despite knowing where the hide-a-key was, Kaminari still knocked on Shinso's front door.

He was tapping his toes erratically and letting off a constant low voltage stream of energy because he was radiating with nerves so much so that when Shinso opened the door calmly, Kaminari shouted, "Are you dumping me!!?!?!"

Shinso opened the door a bit more and simply walked off.

"Is that a yes????" Kaminari chirped as he toed off his shoes and zipped after Shinso.

He jumped in front of Shinso and flung out his arms as he looked up into his tall boyfriend's unreadable handsome face. "You need to say something Hitoshi. You left me in the dark all day. I d-d-demand answers!"

Shinso blinked a single slow time, and Kaminari literally felt the fury roll off Shinso's big body. "You demand answers, from me?"

"Maybe I should rephrase?" Kaminari squeaked. "I humbly request an answer? Please?"

Shinso ran his tongue across his teeth as he mulled through his thoughts. "Denki."

"Present!!"

Kaminari's adorableness cut through some of Shin's mistrust-fueled unhappiness, so he asked, "Will you tell me the truth if I ask you a simple question?"

"Most likely!" When Shinso rose a challenging purple brow, Kaminari elaborated, "If you're going to ask me something like whether or not I put water in Kota's fuel tank when he wasn't super nice to Eri during her period, I'm going to have to lie for legal reasons!!!"

Shinso hated himself, but he smirked. "You're the one who did that? I thought it was Eri."

"Of course it was me!" Kaminari snarled in annoyance, and Shinso's heart clenched at how cute he was with his nose crinkled like that. "I gave that idiot a full book of dos and don'ts to making a girl happy on their period, and the baboon completely discarded my help!! So when he made her cry because he got her the wrong type of ice cream, I knew the idiot needed a tangible reminder to always consult The Period Book!"

"You've always been protective of Eri, haven't you?"

"Of course I have! She's my family too," Kaminari added in a quiet voice. "You know I don't have anyone aside from my dad, and he's not exactly the most loving father. Your dads and Eri took me in and taught me what a loving dysfunctional family is supposed to feel like."

Shinso closed his eyes and blew out all of his frustration. This is Denki. My Denki. He probably just forgot to tell me about how he and Fae met, and it's not like I had directly asked thus he hadn't lied.

After that short mental reminder coupled with his efforts not to be the same cruel person he was when he got angry, he opened his purple eyes to try and talk this out rationally, but Denki was completely gone.

"Kitten?"

Shinso turned in a circle trying to locate his boyfriend, but it wasn't until Denki screamed in pain that he knew where he was. Shinso sighed when Nighty flounced into the hallway and meowed angrily at his father.
