"I won't be long, I'll just run across the street to get a tub of ice cream," I whispered quietly, hoping to not wake anyone.
Everyone was asleep except for Mili and Mya. The movie felt never-ending, and I seriously couldn't take being next to Mili and Alyssa for another second.
Even if Alyssa was asleep, I knew under the covers, she and Mili's bodies were interwoven—perhaps with Mili's arm secured around her waist.
"I would say get me a tub, but I'm on the verge of falling asleep," Mya murmured, her heavy eyes peering over at me.
Mili slowly laid up from her position, "I actually want to get a few things—mind if I come?"
Yes, I do. You should wake Alyssa and ask her instead—I thought to myself.
Even with the tense thoughts, I blankly said, "I guess not."
The words were definitely forced.
"Bet," Mili said, rising from the pile of covers carefully.
Jealousy rippled through me, knowing she was carefully trying to not wake Alyssa.
I shook my head to myself, I seriously need to chill.
"Well, I'm going to sleep, so please don't forget to lock the door when you get back," Mya said, nuzzling her head into the pillow on the couch.
I nodded, gently removing Cam's arm from around my waist, "I got you, Mya."
By the time I successfully untangled myself from Cam and stood from the pile of covers, Mili was by the door with her slides on.
Quickly, I grabbed my slides from my room along with the cropped grey jacket hanging on the coat rack at the front door.
Mili quietly opened the apartment door and motioned her head for me to walk through.
I obliged silently as she followed me out of the apartment, closing the door softly behind us.
The halls were silent given that it was almost two in the morning, which only left the sound of our footsteps pattering down against the wood floors.
The silence was thick and tense—but I preferred this over talking to her.
Then again, she didn't exactly do anything wrong. She took the advice both Mya and I gave her.
Technically she and I aren't anything—and we'll never be anything.
So why am I mad?
If anything she belongs with Alyssa. It makes sense.
They make sense.
"You and Cam look good together," Mili said, finally breaking the silence.
Her tone seemed unamused. It basically felt like an insult rather than a compliment.
I kept my attention on the elevator panel that displayed each floor we passed as we dropped down to the lobby. "Same for you and Alyssa," I forced out, matching her tone entirely.
Mili hummed, "That didn't seem genuine."
I let out an unamused laugh, "Neither did yours," I retorted, knowing I was fighting fire with fire.
"That's because it wasn't."
I shrugged, "It's not like I wanted your opinion in the first place," I said, watching the floors descend painfully slow.
It feels like each second is really a minute.
"Well it seems you were quick to give your own," she said, her raspy voice laced with complete challenge.
