Kendall shrugged. "Then I'm not sure we should be doing this."
Bill frowned. "C'mon..."
She forced a smile. "Okay," and grabbed Bill's hand, slamming the car door behind her.
They went up to the front porch.
He whispered. "I actually happen to know who's house this is and he's in Paris right now."
Her eyes went wide. "Coach Finstock?"
He grinned. "Yup."
She shook her head in disbelief. "How are we getting in?"
He grinned. "He keeps the key under the mat. Real smart."
Bill bent down and lifted a brown mat that read: Play the Game or Leave. He grabbed a silver key.
She bit her lip. "We're going to get in so much trouble."
He smiled. "Maybe not," and slid the key in the lock, slowly unlocking it.
"Isn't this against the law?"
He frowned. "Probably," and with that, he stepped inside with Kendall.
The hallway was big and there was a staircase that led upstairs. Bill grabbed her hand and led her upstairs to a room a room that was... Well pink. The walls were hot pink and the queen sized bed was pink too.
He laughed. "This must be Finstock's room."
She almost choked. "Seriously? It's probably his daughter's."
He looked at Kendall. "He's not even married."
"Then why the house fit for four people?"
Bill's eyes went wide. "He might not live alone."
The phone started ringing at the moment and Bill rushed to answer it while Kendall went after him. "Bill, don't answer it!"
He put a finger to his lips, hushing her. Picking up the phone, he cleared his throat. "This is Bobby Finstock." Pause. "I will not eat your chicken?" Pause. "What the hell, there aren't any chickens. I'm not even a man. I'm a six-year- old girl trapped in a man's body. I have a pink room."
Kendall's eyes bulged as she watched Bill hang up. Bill chuckled. "It was one of the jocks, prank calling."
"You know you're going to be dead when he gets back from Paris?"
The phone started ringing again so Kendall ran to answer it. "There's no chickens!" She answered before anyone spoke.
The voice spoke softly and familiarly. "I'm not looking for chicks, Kendall," She looked wide-eyed at Bill. "I'm looking for Chloe. She'd be a big help and after all, Kendall, I'm your Angel and you need me."
The phone cut off and Kendall dropped the phone in shock. Bill frowned. "What happened?"
She forced a smile as she walked over to him, "Nothing." She forced a giggle. "They just said a few rude things."
Bill squinted his eyes and took a seat on Finstock's pink bed. Kendall took a seat next to him. He lifted his hand to touch Kendall's rosy face. "Kendall."
She blushed, looking down. "Yeah?"
He moved his face toward hers. "You are-" just at that moment, the front door clicked shut.
"Uncle Bob?" A boy's deep voice rang out.
Kendall shot to her feet, running out into the hallway and whispered to Bill to hide in the closet. She ran down the stairs, greeted by a bot about her own age, standing in the hallway. He was wearing a Metallica shirt and brown khakis. Kendall could make out the lyrics: off the never never land, coming from his earbuds. His teeth were covered by braces. He reflected a strange aura as he ran a hand through his chestnut colored hair.
He took out his earbuds, giving Kendall a half smirk. "Hey."
She forced a smile. "You look familiar."
The boy nodded as he stood awkwardly in the middle of the hallway. "I'm Colin. You go to my school."
She nodded and clasped her hands together. "Colin? Weren't you in my homer room last year?"
Colin nodded as he let his backpack fall to the ground and tilted his head to the side. "Why are you in my uncle's house?"
She blushed. "I... Don't know."
He smirked. "So, you just end up in a person's house?"
She shrugged and folded a piece of hair behind her ear. "I guess."
He chuckled, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Where are you coming from?"
She swallowed hard as she recalled the previous day's events. "The hospital. What about you?"
He looked down. "A soccer game. What were you doing at the hospital?"
She looked down at her old chucks. "I fainted yesterday when Zoe shot herself."
He frowned. "Did you know her?" She nodded. "I'm sorry."
She gulped. "She's in a good place and I'm not just saying that. She told me this morning."
Colin nodded slowly and walked into another room, sitting down on a couch. "Mind explaining?"
Kendall sat down next to him. He looked at her, expectantly. "She came to me in a dream."
He nodded. "That happened to me when my cousin, Emma, died when I was ten."
Kendall glanced behind her and saw Bill standing in the hallway, giving her a strange look. Colin looked back at Kendall. "What are you looking at?"
She shook her head, vigorously. "Nothing."
He laughed, bending down on to knees. "When are you going to tell me?"
She looked down. "I don't know what you mean?"
He exhaled and locked eyes with her. "You honestly think I'm that dumb? I'm not freaking stupid, Kendell. I know that you're hiding Bill Remain in here."
She gasped. "How did you know?"
He smirked. "Do you know my uncle Bob?"
She shook her head. "All I know is that he's the boys lacrosse coach."
He nodded. "Did you not know about him never finding a girlfriend and having a pink room?"
She chuckled. "I knew that."
He squinted his eyes at her, making her squirm. Colin raised his eyebrows. "Then you must not know that he keeps security cameras while he's in Paris?"
Kendall's eyes went wide.
He shook his head. "Don't worry. I already deleted the footage."
"Thank you so much."
He shrugged and stared at the carpet. "It's all good."
Bill came walking toward the two. "So that means I can come out from hiding?"
Colin glanced back at him and then turned back towards Kendall. "Whatever floats your boat."
The shocked look on Bill's face made Kendall burst out in laughter. Colin began speaking again. "Are you guys doing anything Monday?"
Bill was confused. "We have school on Monday."
Colin nodded. "I have a feeling not much people are fond to school on Monday." Kendall nodded in agreement as Colin smirked. "But everyone will be there on Friday."
Bill smiled at Kendall. She looked away at Colin. "Prom."
He nodded as Bill sighed. "Well I guess we should get going."
Colin looked up at Kendall, locking eyes with her. "I just really have to go to the bathroom."
Bill exhaled, impatiently.
Colin smiled. "I'll show you where the bathroom is."
He got up as Kendall followed him upstairs. Colin turned a corner and opened a door with her following him over. Kendall paused in front of him and grabbed his Metallica shirt, pulling him inside the bathroom. She slammed the door shut and pushed him against the door.
A/N: sorry about the super long dialogue. the gif above is of Jeremy Allen White and I imagine him as Colin.
