Kendall shot to her feet, running to turn in the light and looked out the window. She saw a tall figure walk across the street. She took a shaky breath and shot down the stairs and ran out the door.

She screamed at the top of her lungs. "Stop it!"

They turned around with a smirk. "For what?"

Kendall backed away as soon as they moved closer. "I never did anything to you!"

They stepped away. "In time, you'll know."

Kendall could tell by looking at the person, that it was a teenage boy. She clenched her teeth and balled her fists. "You tried to kill me!" She took a step towards him, filled with rage. "You sat back and watched Zoe kill herself!"

The boy turned around and started walking away. "I'm not the only one that is a part of the group."

She backed away as the boy started walking farther away. She shouted after him. "At least tell me how many people there are?"

The boy kept walking. "Three."

And with that, he was gone.

She gasped hard as she ran back inside, locking all of the doors and windows. She pulled the shades down on every window. She shut and locked her bedroom door, looking through last years yearbook. She flipped over to the Z's and saw Colin Zusak. She couldn't help but get a strange feeling when she saw his smile. She put the yearbook away in frustration and texted Bill:

You up?

Bill texted back a few minutes later:

Now I am. What's up?

She sighed:

Nightmares and I saw Angel. Well one of them.

He texted back almost immediately:

Really? Who was it and what do you mean, one of them?

She took a gulp as she replied:

I'm not sure but it was a boy and he said that there's three of them.

Bill tools few minutes to respond:

So that could be anyone?

She sighed and furiously texted a reply:

Yeah but he was definitely in our grade.

He texted back a few minutes later:

How could you tell?

She stared at the ceiling before texting:

I just could.

Kendall waited a while before she got a reply from him:

At least we're getting something.

She nodded even though Bill couldn't see her:

I think one of them is a girl. She called me after the hospital and I felt like I knew her. I felt like I meant something to her.

Bill texted back almost immediately:

Well, I think you should sleep on it.

Kendall fell asleep restlessly at four a.m.

"Kendall, honey?" Ms. Smith's voice woke Kendall up instantly, making her groan.

"What time is it?"

Her eyebrows furrowed in concern. "Noon. Honey, did you not sleep well?"

She shook her head. "No. I woke up at two and didn't fall asleep until four."

Her mother pursed her lips. "Were you scared?"

Kendall nodded in surprise that her mother would know. "How'd you know?"

Ms. Smith glanced at the light. "Your door was locked and the lights were on. Do you want to talk about it?"

She swallowed nervously before speaking. "I've been having nightmares since Zoe died."

She sat down on Kendall's bed and patted her hand. "Honey, this is honestly a nightmare. This life is a nightmare right now. What happened to Zoe is the cause of it. It's totally normal to have nightmares after you lose someone."

Kendall fingered the buttons on her bedspread. "I wish she was still here."

She nodded and tapped Kendall's hand. "Do you want me to make you any lunch?"

"What will you make?"

Ms. Smith stood up. "Grilled cheese."

"Sure."

She walked into the kitchen. "I heard about Angel."

She stopped with bulging eyes. "What about Angel?"

Ms. Smith crossed her arms. "It's all over the news." She paused before going on. "Also, I know when something is up with my daughter."

She sighed, feeling as if a load of weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Kendall sat down at the kitchen table as her mother took out the cheese and bread for lunch.

"Mom, there are so many things that has happened since Tuesday. I was afraid to tell you-" She remembered the threatening text from Tuesday night that said that she couldn't tell anyone. "Mom? Can we talk in a closet?"

Ms. Smith's eyes went wide. "Sure but-"

Kendall grabbed her hand and ran up the stairs into her mother's walk in closet. She shut the closet door quickly as Ms. Smith stared at her daughter, incredulously.

"What's going on?"

She put a finger to her lips and hushed her. "I'm not allowed to tell anyone. It seems everyone already knows about Angel, so what can happen? Angel is a group of three teenagers that are after me and my friends."

Ms. Smith's eyes widened. "What? Why?"

"I'm not sure. I've never made any enemies here. I've just hung out with Amanda and all of my other friends."

Ms. Smith's eyes were still wide. "We need to call the cops."

"Don't do that! The cops can't help."

She nodded. "They can investigate."

She shook her head. "They know that we called the cops and they'll do something rash. In exactly a week, on the night of Junior Prom, they'll reveal themselves."

She nodded and hugged her tightly. "I'm so sorry."

Kendall sniffled into her mother's shoulder blade. "So am I, mom."
