Kendall gasped when she awoke, expecting to be met by the darkness of her lavender colored room but instead, she was greeted by the total opposite: bright light blinding her, since she forgot to close the blinds last night. Her eyes widened in shock at the time. Once again, she awoke at noon. She sighed in confusion as she noticed a strange pain in her forehead.
She frowned, getting up from her bed and looked in the mirror. There was a huge bruise on her forehead. Growing confused, she wondering how she had gotten it. The silence of the house grew terrified her.
"Mom?"
She ran into her mother's bedroom. The empty bed and scattered bedsheets dawned on her. She ran around the house, yelling her mother's name. The house was empty. She sat on her mother's bed, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Mom... I'm so sorry that I failed you."
The front door suddenly slammed shut and she rushed down the stairs. "Mom?"
Ms. Smith nodded. "Yes?"
Kendall hugged her vigorously. "I missed you!"
She frowned down at her. "I told you that I was going to get the dresses for Zoe's funeral tomorrow."
She lifted up the dresses and handed Kendall the dress. She frowned in confusion and forced her head to nod. "Yes of course I remember."
Ms. Smith frowned at her once again. "What happened to your forehead? You have the biggest bruise."
Her eyes went wide. "I bumped into the... Fridge."
