Hit By The Enemy

Mags P.O.V

The room went silent as nobody dared to speak however a very slight signal from the guard captain told the pilots to get downstairs to man the ships. Ratchet and Alister kept in their battle positions showing obvious aggression towards the craigmite himself. Both had their teeth bared in a snarl and looked about ready to lunge though they were trying to give the pilots time to get ready.

I myself had a feeling of ice in my chest as if I was frozen just being near this creature that has haunted many of my nights and made me relive that chaos that had initiated the dimenson search and the war. As I looked towards Ratchet I saw him as Kaden in a very similar position however Kaden's posture was one of confident and blood thirst while Ratchet's was one of obvious fear. Despite his brave look he glanced towards Alister who was composed and breathing evenly though Alister himself kept looking towards both Ratchet and Rivet who had stood beside Ratchet as their tails entwined which spoke volumes of how much they cared for each other.

Seeing how the ex general seemed to have gained a very protective nature towards the two told me he didn't just see them as his daughter and nephew he saw them as people to protect to his last breath. Outside Tachyon was pacing all around the hideout still talking however I tuned it out knowing he was trying to egg us on saying things like "as I thought, you lot are still scardy-baxes not willing to come out and fight me. My misson to bring you to extinction has never ended and thanks to the young lombax and his robot nuisance I am now more powerful then before. The asteroid you put me on landed me on a planet devoid of any life but, was rich in trillium making it easy to create armor that was near impossible to break."

In the background I could hear Ratchet falter in his stance though heard Alister had told him to ignore Tachyon. Alister lowered his voice reassured Ratchet that even if it is true they would just have to use a heavy artillery weapon like the cryomines which craigmites are sensitive to or the Rynos which seemed to help Ratchet a little but, even from here I could tell he was shaking though be it from anger at himself or fear of the craigmite outside I was unsure. Just hearing that craigmite antagonize Ratchet made me relize something and it put a feeling of dread into me. Tachyon likely wanted to kill Ratchet. He wanted revenge for Kaden putting up a fight and sending away the kit that would continue the bloodline of the one who had sent the dimensonator away hiding it so the craigmite couldn't take over.

Kaden's last act was one that was deserving of honor which did happen in the new lombax dimension but, here in our original dimension nobody knew of Kaden except a select few being Max Apogee who seems to have passed as well and these zoni that Kaden had done research on and the papers seemed to have been either given to alister by some explorers or alister had found the notes while he likely looked around our old home for any possible survivers.

Underneath in the bunker sounds of ships put into quiet launch could be heard as the door leading outside had also been put into no alert mode but, the light still blinked indicating the hanger opening. Clank, Ratchet, Rivet, kit and Alister picked up on it and knew they had to do something to distract Tachyon away from seeing the ships even if they were hologuised as giant birds as that would give the aerial attack away. Despite his fear and Alister's obvious concern Ratchet sent a groovitron out to try to distract Tachyon which did actually work before Ratchet tossed his wrench and the throne legs at the weak point in the middle joint as if he's done it countless times before which wouldn't surprise me though the other four stood shocked as if Ratchet had gained a second tail or head.

*Rivet's thoughts*

What the hell was Ratchet thinking attacking when he has already confirmed that this Tachyon person that all the others feared was stronger then before? Was he seriously that hard headed that he attacked without a prior plan run by us to get our opinions? I love him I really do but, right now, i'm mentally cursing him out. Outside I could hear a screech as the throne threw Tachyon off sending him into about a fifteen foot drop which causing him to fall into some of the goons that flanked him ended up cushioning his fall though it hurt those under him.

*Rivet's P.O.V*

All I heard was the craigmite cursing and saw a flash of yellow which was revealed to be Ratchet running past as I felt his tail brush against mine to try to attack Tachyon. Before he could reveal the entrance which was holo-guised however my father quickly stopped him and scolded him about being reckless however what Ratchet did next surprised me and concerned me greatly.

He had snapped at my dad yelling about him having to take Tachyon down for good as he had been given countless chances to be different from his species to turn a new leaf and never did. Alister gave him a shocked look as did I and our companions. All of us stared at him as if he was a stranger which was enough to make him realize something as his ears and tail went down. What it was I was unsure however the scared look was back though it was overpowered by his anger towards the enemy outside.

His tail was wagging erratically indicating he was expressing multiple emotions and his once emerald green was a bit darker due to his anger. Me, Clank, Kit, Alister and Mags who has stayed quiet this whole time so we could deal with Ratchet was appreciated though a bit disheartening that he had basically become a observer to what I was guessing was the lombax equivalent to an anxiety attack.

The behavior from Ratchet got worse as the sound of a bigger rock being forcefully crushed under something mechanical rang through the cave. Ratchet flinched and then glanced outside. When I followed his gaze I instantly knew why as on the other end through the dust of the crushed stone were golden eyes as well as multiple sets of red eyes seemingly staring back at us.

I soon relized the dust had revealed our hidden spot before all hell broke loose. This was possibly our final battle and I had to admit I wasn't ready to die. Not now or anytime soon and I could tell the others weren't either. We will fight to defend our home no matter what. In my head I yelled "Bring it on bastard" and Ratchet and my dad verbally said the same thing I was thinking out loud before the two nodded and ran forward hitting two of the legs with the sticky modded constructor bombs which ignited shortly after causing Tachyon's throne to stumble.

My dad soon after grabbed one of the pratorian wrenches and had struck Tachyon directly with lightning. At first I thought that would be all that was needed but, unlike what Clank had told me from the altered timeline he played the main part in the strike only phased the slightly disoriented the ex-emperor leaving a light scorch mark.

Looking down I saw the backup at Tachyon's feet were all dead and the platform Tachyon stood on had been scorched but, otherwise Tachyon himself was unphased. I knew right then we were in trouble but, before I could even register what happened next the sound of a bullet hitting something flesh rang through the hideout and soon after that sound Tachyon had started leaving while cackling like a maniac yelling "Good luck helping your worthless friend you sorry excuses for heros!!".

Soon after he left the sound of pained breathing and falling was heard which seemed to stop my own heart as I dared to look and see who had been hit. As the sound of ships were heard following after Tachyon the words "oh no..." and white fur was all I saw engulfing orange before I dropped to my own knees in shock and sorrow. The sight before me would likely stick as I stared seeing Ratchet bloody as he had been hit in nearly the same spot as the hit Clank told me about in the Great Clock though it wasn't an immediate fatal hit it was deep.

Unlike last time however there were no second chances as I knew the clock was out of the question and I was unsure if the nanotech could help this time. Alister engulfed Ratchet in a side hug while applying pressure to the wound and looked towards Mags who instantly ran over with a gurney and one of the medics that had stayed behind.

After Mags directed Alister to place Ratchet down and keep pressure on the wound with a clean towel the medic had found as he was one of the strongest lombaxes to keep enough pressure to prevent too much blood loss. As they left to a unknown area of the hideout I had stood for what seemed like hours before the tears started falling as I engulfed Clank and Kit in a hug who hugged back.

Unlike all other times Clank nor kit knew if Ratchet would live or die and that's what scares me.
