As soon as she sent the message, the rush started again through the corridors where Jennie passed. Unfortunately, Jisoo couldn't do like the other employees and run away from her, so she started to follow her towards Yang's office.

Yang Hyun-suk was an unbearable guy to deal with. He thought he was the top man, but there was nothing spectacular about him. At least Jennie Ruby Jane Kim knew how to put him in his place with a few words. Perhaps, out of everything she's seen the brunette do in all the years she's worked for her, Jisoo found getting Yang down from her pedestal the most fascinating, and seeing her do it again would be a great way to brighten her day.

Still following her around like a puppy, the assistant found a minute of courage to ask a question that had been stuck in her throat for a long time. She had to be smart and take advantage of opportunities. Knowing that Jennie would eat Yang's liver in a few minutes might lead her to give a positive answer to Jisoo's question.

"Have you read the text I gave you?" she asked, nervous that she was practically next to Jennie.

"I read a few pages, but it didn't impress me very much" she replied with a certain disdain as she walked in her stiletto heels holding her coffee.

"Can I say something?"

"No."

Jisoo sighed and rolled her eyes, but since she had already started that dialogue, she would go further.

"The truth is, I've written thousands upon thousands of texts, and this is the first one I've given to you" Jisoo started gesturing with herhands "there's an amazing story in there and it's the kind of story you usually publish."

"Hm... wrong." Jennie looked to the side and saw Heejin with her coffee stained blouse. "And I think you drink the same coffee I do, just in case something happens to mine. Which is really pathetic."

Jisoo rolled her eyes once more, it didn't matter if the coffee was spilled, but Jennie Kim was like that when she was obsessed with something.

"Or impressive," Jisoo said defensively.

"It would be impressive if you didn't drop it" the brunette sipped her coffee. "Remember, you're just here to watch."

"I won't open my mouth" Jisoo opened the door to Yang's office.

Looking like she was walking down the Victoria Secrets runway, Jennie unceremoniously entered the room.

All Jisoo wanted was for Jennie to read her manuscript and agree to publish it. If that happened, she knew it would be a success, as the brunette knew how to sniff out the new best sellers. Although she tormented her day and night, even outside of working hours, the blonde knew that she was the best at what she did and that's why it was important to know what she thought about her story.

"Look if it isn't our fearless leader and her vassal" Yang mocked and Jennie reciprocated with a cynical smile. "Please make yourself comfortable."

There wasn't one person in that publishing company that liked that man and Jisoo felt like punching him because of the smug smile he carried on his face. If Jennie didn't hit him at some point in her life, the blonde would.

Even if Jennie Kim got on her nerves and made her life hell, Jisoo couldn't feel for her the way he felt for Yang. Despite everything, the brunette was an excellent professional and worked hard to prove every day that she deserved to be there. Yang, on the other hand, was the typical case that got to a position faster simply because he was a man.

"What a beautiful rug." Jennie looked at the floor and made a not-so-nice face. "It's new?"

"It's a legitimate Persian worth more than two years' salary for your little employee." He pointed at Jisoo, who was clearly uncomfortable. "But, yes, it's new in my office."
