Jennie left the family home as quickly as she could without saying goodbye to anyone. She even wanted to give all the women in the family a hug, as she would probably never see them again, but she decided it would be better not to. Though her mind was at peace from having told her the truth, her heart was hurting like it never had before. Perhaps this pain would never go away.

In one week, she had truly believed this was her family. They were people who loved her and who accepted her with open arms. More than half of her life had been yearning for something like this, even if unconsciously, and when she found it, she realized that she couldn't take advantage of it because of a lie. She hoped that one day they would forgive her for what she had done, but if they didn't, she would have to live with the fact that she had hurt special people by trying to do what was right.

In her mind, she was fully aware that that trip to Jeju had completely changed her. There was a pre-Jeju Jennie Ruby Jane Kim and a post-Jeju Jennie Kim. The post-Jeju Jennie was the one who remembered what it was like to love again, not just to love romantically, but also to love brotherly. She could remain the bitch she always was at her job, but when she met people who were worthy, she would let them in, because when she let them in — with Jisoo's family — she felt more alive and wanted to feel that way until the end of her days.

Of all that happened, the worst part was seeing Jisoo's dull eyes and look of disappointment. It almost killed her with sadness at the time, but she was sure she was doing the right thing. When she realized that she was one step away from giving up everything, she wanted to give herself to Jisoo like she had never given herself to anyone. The night they had in the cabin would be something engraved in her mind and heart for a lifetime, as the blonde was someone who had marked her days and loved Jisoo with all her being.

Before getting on the plane that would take her back to Seoul, Jennie waited until the last second to be stopped by the blonde who made the air miss in her lungs. Who knows, the thousands of romance books she read during her life and her career wouldn't come true for her?

However, there was no one there shouting her name and telling her to stay. It was then that she realized that she was alone again. It would be difficult, but I would have to learn to deal with it again, only this time on another continent.

When she reached her huge penthouse at night, she threw herself on her bed letting out a frustrated sigh. The night would be long without having Jisoo to hold her, it wasn't even six hours since I had left her, but I was missing the blonde a lot. All she wanted was to feel her arms around her and her voice whispering in her ear calling her my mandu. She was completely shaky and melted when Jisoo called her that in a sweet and true tone.

Staring at the ceiling, Jennie began to hear the noise of thunder cracking the sky and it was not long before the rain began to fall. Curling up in bed, she felt a few tears wet her face. It was always like this, everything she loved she lost and, once again, she had lost a lot. That was how she spent most of the weekend, which was supposed to be the happiest time of her life. She was crying, alone in the middle of the bed and with no one to comfort her.

Before the sun even rose on Monday, Jennie was already up and packing her bags, she had 48 hours to leave the country for good, so she had to be quick. When part of her belongings were stored, she went to the publishing house where she used to be the boss.

For the last time, Jennie went into her office and put what she had there in a small box. It wasn't much, just a few diaries with important notes, some pens, notebooks, a vase of artificial flowers and a picture frame with a cat that wasn't even hers, but she liked to think it was. Opening one of her desk drawers, she found the manuscript Jisoo had given her. She had already read that authorial text by the blonde many times, but said no because she was afraid of losing her as an assistant.
