When one day she thought about getting married, Jisoo didn't imagine it would be with someone she didn't love. She knew Jennie, knew a lot about her life and understood a lot about her looks, her smiles and her micro expressions, but she didn't love her. As if that wasn't enough, on the weekend she would take Jennie to her parents' house for her grandmother's birthday and tell that she was engaged to a woman that she even hated.

Despite what she did in front of Mister Dey, Jisoo felt the weight of the lie fall on her shoulders. She had the chance to unmask her boss, but she didn't quite understand why she didn't. It's okay that she took advantage of the situation to talk about the promotion, but that was something that came to her at the time, it wasn't premeditated. She wasn't the type to take advantage of embarrassing situations, let alone one in which she was completely involved.

If Jisoo was internally freaking out over all that, Jennie was only thinking about the next steps of the plan that she considered infallible.

"Now we have to pretend that we're girlfriends and we're going to tell your parents that we're engaged" she said when she approached the blonde who had left her behind. "And for travel, try using your miles. In fact, I think I'll pay you to go first class. I liked the vegetarian food" Jennie said referring to the plane meal. "Last time they gave me a vegetarian dish."

"You're not even a vegetarian, Jennie" Jisoo took her hands to her temples, massaging them.

"And?" Jennie stopped in the middle of the sidewalk typing something. "I prefer the vegetarian food on the plane. Why aren't you writing down what I'm saying?" Jennie glared at Jisoo.

"Weren't you in that room?" The brunette made a face of misunderstanding to the question. "Is this serious?

"Oh! What did you say about being promoted? I thought it was great! He believed that story."

"I meant it. I'm facing a $250,000 fine and five years in prison because of you. It changes things."

"Promoted to editor?" Jennie arched her eyebrows. "No way."

"Fine." Jisoo shoved her hands in her pants pocket. "So I quit and you're screwed. It was really nice meeting you, Jennie," Jisoo said ironically, turning her back. "Bye, bye."

As usual, Jennie rolled her eyes at the drama. If it was for any other reason, she'd let Jisoo do what she'd just said — even though she doubted she'd actually do it — only she didn't have time to change her plans, and Jisoo jumped off the boat after confirming the lie, she was out of order. cogitation.

"Jisoo, wait!" Jennie walked over to the assistant who stopped a few steps ahead. "Okay. I will promote you to editor if you go to Jeju for the weekend and for the immigration interview. Happy?"

"That's going to have to happen right now. And you're going to have to publish the book I gave you with 20,000 copies in the first print run. And we're only going to tell my family about our engagement when I want and how I want."

"Okay"

"Now ask me nicely."

"Ask nicely for what?"

"Ask me to marry you nicely, Jennie" Jisoo gave a smile, but still with her lips closed.

"What? What do you want from me, Jisoo?" Jennie frowned.

"Did you hear me. On your knees."

"No way." Jennie shook her head.

"Then I'll be forced to give up everything." She was about to turn to leave.

"Fine," Jennie said irritably.

"I'm waiting."

Looking around, Jennie realized that she was going to be embarrassing herself, but she wasn't going to let Jisoo get the better of her. Reaching out for the blonde to help her to her knees, as soon as she did, Jennie looked into her eyes.

"Will you marry me?"

"No. Now ask with affection and maybe I'll give you that honor?" Jisoo was trying hard not to start laughing at this whole scene.

In all the years working for Jennie Ruby Jane Kim, Jisoo could never have imagined that she would enjoy seeing her kneeling at her feet so much.

"Jisoo, Jisoo, Jisoo. My sweet Jisoo." Jennie smiled cynically. "Would you, with a thousand little hearts, please marry me?"

"Honestly, I just didn't like the sarcasm part, but I accept it" Jisoo pretended to help her up, but walked away. "I'll see you tomorrow at the airport."

"JISOO!" Jennie shouted.

It was tempting to let her get up from that sidewalk alone, but Jisoo couldn't take it and went to help.

Whenever she stopped to think about all the things she did for Jennie on a daily basis, Jisoo wondered what her life was like before hiring her. It wasn't possible that a woman as powerful as she was needed help not even forgetting that she had an appointment or that she couldn't eat sweets that contained nuts, as she was allergic.

Returning to where Jennie was still on her knees, Jisoo held out her hand for her to take. With a skirt that was too tight on her body and heels so high, the brunette could barely move properly. Wanting to get it over with, Jisoo bent down a little, taking her hands to her waist, squeezing her a little to be able to pull her up without her making too much effort.

"Looks like you can't do anything without me," Jisoo commented when she finally got Jennie to her feet. "I deserve a thank you, don't I?"

"Of course, honey." Jennie brought her free hand up to Jisoo's face with a tender smile on her lips. "I would have done it myself." She patted the blonde's cheek lightly.

For a few seconds, Jisoo really believed that the brunette would be grateful for everything she was doing.

"Jennie, Jennie, Jennie. My sweet Jennie. You're playing with fire, honey, I don't think you want to get burned" she watched the brunette cross her arms and tilt her head to the side, analyzing her. Jisoo hated it when Jennie did that. "I might give up everything if you don't start treating me right."

Stepping forward, Jennie stood very close to her subordinate. They were so close that their breaths clashed and their bodies weren't pressed together by inches.

"If you didn't want to do what you're doing, you would have disowned me in the first second, which you didn't." Jennie saw the smug smile on the blonde's face disappear. "You're with me on this one, Jisoo. If you fall, I fall, and vice versa. You're tied to me until this is all resolved, there's no use trying to escape." Jennie looked into her eyes for a brief minute. "Pick me up at my apartment tomorrow at six o'clock," she ordered.

Turning her head to follow Jennie as she walked away, Jisoo felt her knees go weak. Surely that was the effect of the stress being caused by that cat-eyed devil, she thought.
