S2: Chapter 30 - Taking a break

(y/n's pov)

dancing with joe felt so magical, you could feel the love radiating off of us. 

the end of Cant Help Falling in Love by Elvis was near and both joe and i were ready to tap out for the night.

"i'm gonna go use the restroom" - joe

"i'm gonna get something to drink" - you

"bye love you" - joe kissed your cheek

"love you too" - you

we parted ways and i made my way over to the refreshments table.

as i was getting my punch i felt a pat on my shoulder, and when i turned around it was the last person i expected.

olivia.

"can we talk, privately?" - olivia

"uh, sure. i guess" - you

why the hell did i agree to that.

she smiled at me slightly and started walking towards the secluded lobby, she was expecting me to follow her and.. i did.

when she finally stopped walking and sat down on a bunch she motioned for me to sit next to her so i took the seat.

"i just want you to know that... i've been where you've been, and many other girls have too, you think joes perfect and that he would never hurt you... and then he does. you seem like a sweet girl and not to mention the fact you're literally gorgeous, i just don't want to see you get hurt by him like i did." - olivia

what on earth- was she lying? or did joe lie about her using him?

"if you don't mind me asking.. how'd he hurt you?" - you

"i don't mind, and well he broke up with me his second year with the bengals. he was coming back from having a torn acl and mcl so i knew the season was important for him and he needed to focus on football a lot more... but he full on didn't talk to me for days. and when i finally confronted him about it i mistakenly brought up the fact that i thought we were getting serious. i mean yeah we had been dating for like 5-6 years but it was just starting to get to the settling down and forever thing part. well when i said something about that he flipped out and said he never saw me getting past the girlfriend label" - olivia

"wow.. i'm so sorry olivia, i- i didn't know" - you

"you're fine, it wasn't you. and you only know what he wants you to know. he's a manipulator
y/n" - olivia

i started fidgeting with my ring, which is something i do when i'm stressed out, nervous, or  thinking.

"but on a side note, you look beautiful even when you're pregnant" - olivia

"oh thanks" - you

"sorry if i kind of overwhelmed you with information.. i just wanted to let you know"
- olivia

"no it's okay.." - you

"well i'm gonna get headed back to the party.. it was nice talking to ya" - olivia

"yeah.. you too" - you

we walked back to the rest of everyone but at different paces.

when i got back to the table joe had a few empty drink glasses in front of him.

"was that water you were drinking"
- you chuckled

"nopeee" - joe

i tired to push olivia's words out of my head because i honestly cant bring myself to believe joe would do that to someone. and i mean i didn't know olivia so i have no clue if she was telling the truth.
