Into the Mystic

today was joe and i's 1 year anniversary of being married. the past year has been crazy, but having joe as my husband made all the bad more bearable and all the good even better.

when i woke up there was a bouquet of roses already in a vase on my nightstand, a card propped open in front of it.

a smile immediately appeared on my face as i leaned up in bed and grabbed the card to read it.

"1 year, lord have mercy that flew by! this past year has been challenging and we've been tested in every way possible, but having you by my side has made me see the good in everything. im so grateful for our relationship, there's no one else i'd line dance in front of 300 people for. im so glad you're mine and i love you so much, more than words can ever explain. you're the best wife ever y/n, i'm so happy i get to call myself your "hubby".

the pregnancy hormones got to the best of me and joes sweet card ended up making me shed a few tears. once i composed myself, i quickly changed clothes and went downstairs to find joe.

when i got downstairs no one was in the kitchen or living room.

"joe?" - you yelled

no one answered and i started getting worried, but then i saw joes tall frame in the backyard.

"watcha doin?" - you smiled as you made your way over to joe

"oh hey, i didn't hear you come out. i'm just kinda chillin, enjoying the weather." - joe

"mhm. thank you for the roses baby, i love them." - you

"good, did you read the card?" - joe

"yeah, it was really sweet. it made me cry actually." - you

"am i that good with words??" - joe smirked

"maybe, or it was my hormones" - you

"i'm just kidding, i know i'm not that good"
- joe laughed

"happy anniversary joey" - you pulled him into a hug

"happy anniversary, my love" - joe kissed your head and laid his hands on your back

we leaned away from each other for a second, our arms still around one another as we just smiled at each other.

joe moved one of his hands to cradle my cheek before he leaned in and pressed his lips on mine.

a couple minutes later, we pulled away, our foreheads touching.

"wanna dance?" - joe

"without music?" - you chuckled

"no, my speakers out here baby" - joe laughed

"oh yeah, sure" - you smiled

joe connected his phone to his speaker and shuffled a playlist to dance to. the first song that played was Into the Mystic by Van Morrison.

he slipped his phone back into his pocket and wrapped his arms around me again.
