(joes pov)

she didn't stay in that position long, probably 5 seconds. but 5 seconds is too long when your watching your fiancé jump on some man you've never seen before.

maybe another brother?
she only has an older sister and then the twin brothers.

maybe a cousin?
please god, let him be a cousin.

im just trying to convince myself that this is someone from her family.

when they stopped hugging the strange guy that i now knew was named Jonah, was looking around, probably for y/n's father, but when his eyes met mine he looked almost startled.

"uhm- do you guys see him too" - jonah

is this guy stupid?

y/n looked and me and laughed softly, she walked over to me and linked her arm with mine.

"this is joe, my fiancé" - you smiled

i'm glad that she made that known.

"i mean i heard you were engaged to a dude named joe... but i didn't expect the joe burrow"
- jonah

"it's nice to meet you" - joe

i was lying through my teeth but i didn't wanna be a asshole, at least not yet.

i stuck my hand out for him to shake and i almost laughed at our height difference.

Jonah seemed to be 5'10... and i'm 6'4 so just let that mental image sink in.

"you like the bengals?" - joe

"hell no, go chiefs" - jonah

just when i thought i couldn't dislike this dude anymore... here we are.

"the bengals won the super bowl" - you

thank god she's actually somewhat acknowledging my existence.

"yeah but next season is gonna be different"
- jonah

i wanted to stay something, so bad.

so so so bad.

and i think y/n noticed because she took my hand and excused us from the group, using the excuse that we needed to take our bags upstairs to our temporary room.

i sat all the bags down and y/n shut the door.

"who is that?" - joe

please for the love of god say my cousin

"Jonah Bradshaw" - you

"how do you know each other?" - joe

there's still a chance he's a cousin

"he actually was my neighbor back in ohio, growing up. he was two years younger than me so we really didn't have classes together at school but he was always over at my house to hang out with tommy and harry. he was like my brother"
- you

damn it, not a cousin.

"oh. why's he in california?" - joe

"our dads worked at the same place and so both of our families moved down here for work" - you

"oh.. ok" - joe

i sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at the floor, feeling rather self conscious.

usually i'm not one to get jealous of seeing her talk to other guys, but this just felt different.

he was different.
