Jisung was left alone once again, and a deadly silence pervaded the room. He had just finished cleaning the last table and was preparing to leave. When he returned home, he planned to work on his lyrics. He wanted to write about a boy who was struggling to build his confidence and make his dreams come true, and who might also find love. As Jisung touched his bottom lip, he froze. "A lover?" he thought to himself. "Here we go again with the fake scenarios." He often imagined what it would be like to have a lover, to be in love, and to experience the sensations of intimacy. He found himself spacing out in the middle of the room, with a cleaning spray and a rag waiting for him to finish his job.
Although he didn't know if what he felt was love, being kissed was an incredibly pleasurable experience. The wetness of lips touching, the tongues intertwining, the exchange of saliva, and the warmth of skin contact - all of it was addictive, leaving Jisung wanting more. He was curious about the things he could do to experience that same sense of satisfaction and how his body would respond to it.
"I wish we could kiss again. Minho got my number, but I didn't receive a single text message from him. Maybe he's just busy with his new job. It's only been three days since we met. Or maybe he has a girlfriend? No, that's not possible. Maybe he's busy with work." Jisung sighed. "But if I had just used a single neuron, I could have asked for his number. I forget to ask for his number. Jisung, really, you're the best," he said, defeated.
He was good at writing lyrics that captured the moments and experiences of his daily life, but he couldn't seem to get his own life in order. "Well, I can't even figure out my own life for a second. How could I fall in...," Jisung trailed off, shaking his head. "I'm overthinking again. I really should just forget about it and go back to writing my emo feelings again." Suddenly, his phone rang, indicating a new text message. It was from an unknown number.
"Hey, squirrel boy," the message read.
Jisung was taken aback by the strange message. He thought it might be spam or some other type of unsolicited message. But the message contained a nickname, which made him wonder if it was someone he knew. "Who is it?" he replied.
"It's Lee Minho".
'What!' Jisung was taken aback 'he can read minds now?', then he read the text again 'what's with the nickname?'. He furrowed his eyebrows and panicked 'Okay, okay, what will I do? Oh my, oh my! We've known each other before, we drink and we... kissed, it's not a big deal, I'll just answer casually, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's it'.
"Oh, hi," Jisung responded.
"What are you doing?" Minho asked.
'I think he really can read minds'. 'How can I answer this? -I was just casually thinking about you?' 'Ahn, why is he asking me this?' 'I don't know what to do?' He shook his head. 'I won't answer it.'
"Uh, nothing special," Jisung replied.
"Wanna grab a coffee?" Minho asked.
'Maybe he just wants some company for a coffee' Jisung thought, considering the idea.
"Yeah, sure," he replied.
"Perfect. I'm leaving my work right now. Send me your address, and I'll come get you," Minho said.
Jisung gazed at his phone with a smile and thought, 'What is happening?!' The message was so random, but it had made him happier in a few minutes than he had been all day. He quickly replied with his address and waited outside the coffee shop, smoking a cigar and feeling nervous. He wasn't the type to go out with someone he barely knew, let alone twice. 'But it's not a date, right? We're just having coffee and talking. I can make him company.' Jisung tried to calm himself, but he was anxious to see Minho again.
When Minho arrived in his car, Jisung saw him rolling down the window and greeting him with a smile. Jisung blushed and put out his cigar, throwing it in the nearest bin. He sat in the car and buckled his seat belt, and Minho realized they were in front of the coffee shop where Jisung worked.
"Oh, I forgot you work here," Minho said with a little pout, furrowing his eyebrows. "Maybe we should go for a drink instead? What do you think?" Then he looked at his side to see Jisung.
Jisung thought for a moment and said, "Yeah, I think I could go for a drink or two." It's only monday and he decided not to forget about that. Jisung became silent, nervously began to play with his fingers.
Minho shook Jisung's hands and reassured him, "Hey, don't be nervous. What are you thinking?" He started driving.
Jisung blushed; he really couldn't tell what had been through his mind a few minutes ago. "Ahn, so, what place do you have in mind?"
Minho was just casually talking with him "Mmh, there's this place I used to go, where they have these rooms so we can talk and drink without any disturbance but soft music. Sounds good to you?"
Jisung happily agreed, "yeah, yeah, I'm good with it" he nodded.
"Oh" Minho blushed, noticing how cute Jisung was when he was happy and smiling. "Mmh, so let's put some music on." He doesn't want the boy to feel anxious with some awkward silence.
[Playing New Hope Club, Danna Paola - Know Me Too Well]
I spend my weekends tryna get you off
My mind again, but I can't make it stop
I'm tryna pretend I'm good, but you can tell (good but you can tell)...
Minho put on some music, and Jisung was surprised when Minho started singing along with his sweet voice. "Wow," Jisung said, "your voice is really, really good."
"Oh, really?" Minho was surprised, his lips pouting an O shape and his eyes wide open as he faced the younger for a little second.
"Yeah, I think it fits this song very well" Jisung was giving practical advice.
"Thanks" Minho stopped the car at a red light, grinning he faced him again "and you, do you like singing?"
"Oh, I'm not that good" Jisung said shaking his hands like 'no' "I prefer to write lyrics than sing"
"Ohhh, so you write?" Minho was surprised, and he made a connection 'he stayed back to work with music'. "What genre are you interested in?"
"Mmmh, I don't think I have a specific genre..." Jisung thought for a second holding his chin "...but I do like hip hop"
"So you write hip hop lyrics about what?" Minho asked.
"Oooh, I like to write about, mmmh..." Jisung was recalling the last song he started to write about them kissing and he cuddling with Felix, he gulped "...I write about my life in general, yeah, ahn, my experiences"
"Wow, that must be interesting, I'm looking forward to your music" Minho smirked and nodded with his hands on the wheel.
"Thanks" Jisung smiled looking down.
"And we're here" Minho said, parking the car.
They arrived at the District 9 bar and went to a room with soft lights and low music. Jisung loved the minimalist style of the place and kept saying, "Wow" while looking around. Minho was curious and asked, "Did you like it?" Jisung replied with a smile, "I love it!"
