Elula stood silently in the elevator. Finally the doors opened to the first floor, and she walked out. There was nobody around; a plus to waking up early.
Elula fixed herself a bowl of cereal and ate in pleasant solitude.
All too soon, Kaylen stepped out if the elevator and made her way to the kitchen.
"I couldn't sleep."
"I didn't ask." Elula smiled at her younger cousin.
"This is why we're not friends." Kaylen rolled her eyes as she sat at the counter.
"Is it though? Are you sure it's not because you decided I was weird since I don't gossip about boys with you and Poppie?"
"No, you're weird either way."
Elula sighed. "Why?"
"Maybe because you don't talk to anybody? You're like a creepy stalker just watching everybody."
Elula snorted. "Accurate."
"And you're proud of it." Kaylen gave Elula a disgusted look.
Elula smiled to herself. Kaylen was quite the character.
Rylen walked towards the living room then stopped. He could see them out of the corner of his eye. They were sitting at the window having what was probably some sort of romantic talk he and Alex never had. Rylen bit his lip and closed his eyes for a moment. Was it worse or better that Alex didn't care? That she was the reason they broke up? Not distance, parents, nothing of the sort. It was worse. Not only did he have to get over her, but Rylen also wondered what on Earth did he do wrong? Or why wasn't he good enough?
Rylen crossed his arms and stepped towards the living room. He immediately saw Brendon and hesitated. He didn't want to be there if Brendon was going to talk about it. It's not like Alex and Lexi were keeping their relationship private.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Rylen suddenly jumped to his senses and saw Kimberly standing in front of him.
"Like you care."
Kimberly's expression looked a bit hurt and annoyed. "Whatever then." She walked away, leaving Rylen feeling a bit regretful. Was she just trying to be nice? Impossible. It was Kimberly. But why did she ask?
"I don't know about you, but my life here has been quite uneventful."
Brendon flicked a quarter up then snatched it out of the air. "Didn't you just have a big fight with Kimberly?"
"Yeah, and we haven't talked since."
"How could you forget that?" Brendon tossed the quarter back up.
Logan shrugged. "I haven't thought about it much. I guess we'll be friends again after time."
"You mean you're not friends?"
"Well. I'm not sure."
Brendon glanced up then dropped his voice. "The girl we're talking about is just over there."
"She looks upset."
"Hm. Man, do I wonder why."
Kirk caught up to Carson while walking down the hall to the stairs. "I see a lot of people stopping to talk to you."
"Oh yeah? Everybody but Kimber I assume."
"Uh. Maybe. I didn't notice."
Carson seemed to suddenly realize something and cleared his throat uncomfortably. "Uh, yeah, so Kaylen broke up with Justin."
