The Nightmare On the Second Floor

Chapter 16

I-it was Mya, but she-it wasn't her. It couldn't have been.

What seemed like Mya was something else, a girl about the same age as us, crawled backwards towards us, she jolted up as if she heard a noise. She turned her head to face us, her eyes were glowing red.

Her hair was covering the left side of her face. Her hands were dirty, her skin was covered with dirt, her nails had a slight yellow to it, her teeth looked normal, but she looked savage.

Her skin was cut up, she was wearing a faded purple dress with a flower design. But when she stared at me, it looked like Mya but it wasn't her.

The next thing I know, I hear Aisha screaming, it sounded like she was being dragged! I screamed out for her.

Nothing.

"AISHA!!!!" I yelled again.

"NIAMI!!! HELP ME!!!" I heard Aisha shout.

I started crying I didn't know where she was, I couldn't find her, heck I didn't even know where to look.

I stood up, staring and the girl. She was sniffing in the air, she started shaking her body, like she was having a seizure! She laid on the floor violently shaking. Thrashing. Kicking. I just stood there.

I couldn't do anything, but my hands start to move, I knelt down beside the girl, and I pulled out an epi pen. I injected it in her neck. She closed her eyes and Stopped. I just sat there.

She slowly opened her eyes again, she grabbed my hand. I tried to move but she stopped me.

"Ni-Niami? Is that-is-it's you? You're really here?!" The girl said weakly.

I just started at her, I had no idea what was going on.

"You-you don't recognize me?" The girl said.

I shook my head no.

"It's-it's me! It's Mya." The girl said.

My eyes widened.

"No." I muttered.

"Niami, I haven't seen you for so long!" The girl said.

I just stared at her, getting angry by the minute.

"Niami? What's wrong?" She said.

"You-no!" I said a little louder.

The girl sat up.

"Niami? I know that I left without saying good-bye, and I understand why you would be mad. I'm sorry. I got into something bad." She said.

I stared at her.

"NIAMI?? Why can't you talk to me??" She yelled.

I jumped a little.

"You think everything is fine?" I said.

She looked confused.

"What?" She said.

"You tried to kill us Mya!! You've ruined my life for what? Not being close enough friends??? You're so stupid and aggravating!!! You have no idea what kind of life I had for the past 4 years!!" I screamed.

The girl jumped.

"Niami? What? I haven't seen you for 4 years, how could I have possibly ruined your life??" She asked.

"Don't play dumb Mya!!" I shouted.

The girl's face softened, it looked like she was telling the truth but I wasn't going to believe her.

It was silence. She didn't say anything nor did I. We just sat there, I worked on slowing my breathing. The girl just sat there with sorrow.

"Niami. I never got the chance to tell you this but...about 2 years before I left I got into some trouble. I hanging out with my cousins and we went into this abandoned hospital. I told them I was scared, but I didn't want to seem like a baby, so I went with them."

She paused to see the look on my face.

"We went up to the 4th floor. There were noises, I thought it was just-just the normal sounds that you hear when you're going through something scary. But it was different. The next thing I know, my cousins weren't around me anymore. I stayed where I was at calling out for them."

She paused again to look at me.

"There wasn't any sound. But, something fell behind me, I jumped. But I felt something grab at my ankles. I started screaming for help. No one came. Then I heard chanting..."

She started crying. I felt bad, but I couldn't, I couldn't stop thinking that this wasn't a trick.

"They-they did something to me Niami! After that night in the hospital, I started fainting, and waking up in random places. I would have weird cravings. I started skipping class, I joined a gang, I owed a lot of people money. But o wasn't in control of myself. Something did this to me!"

I stared in shock, did she really think I was going to believe this? I paused for a minute...

"Let's say I did believe you Mya...how would u be able to tell if what you say is true?"

She paused for a minute, I could see her thinking.

"Why don't I tell you your deepest secret?" She said.

My eyes opened.

"O-Kay lets see if you know it." I said eying her.

"If I say this...you can't get mad at me...and you can't tell at me." Mya said.

I nodded.

"I remember you telling me, a lil while back, maybe 5 years ago, you had just came back from the doctor. You said that the doctors wanted to check up on something...you said that they came back with test results. But, it wasn't normal results, you said that your parents told you, you had a brain dysfunction, that allowed you to..to...act different."

My eyes widened. How did she-she know about this?? I never remembered saying any of this! I didn't even tell Aisha!
