Josephine
Friday
Hero drove us home after school and now he's cooking himself some eggs as I am just eating a bowl of fruit. "Alex wanted us to come over tonight."
"For the frat party?" I ask.
"I guess, Derek, Delilah and all them will be there." he says.
"Great we can party in the-" I begin and he stops and shakes his head.
"No, no. We can't go." he says.
"Why not?" I ask and he sits down at the island and eats, his back towards me. "There's things there I don't need you to see, it was already a precaution having you live there-" he begins and I sit up.
"The basement." I say and he turns around.
"Stop worrying about the basement." he demands.
"Once you tell me what's so secret about it and about the white board then I'll stop worrying."
"It's none of your business." he says.
"Your name was on the board." I say and he turns back around slowly and doesn't say anything. "What did the board mean and why did you erase everything on it so fast? Why can't I go down there anymore and why can't-" I begin and he turns around and yells, "Stop asking me about the fucking basement!"
I look at him shocked and scoff away into the bedroom. What is wrong with him. I lock the bedroom door and just lay on the bed and go on my phone. I call Delilah.
"Josephine, hey." he says and I play with the string on the comforter. He can stop me from going to the party with him but he can't stop me from going.
"Hey I have a question." I say. "Do you know anything about the basement at the Frat house and what's so important about it?" I ask.
"Um, I can ask Derek and see if he knows. One second." she says.
A minute later, "Oh okay, nevermind he just yelled at me to mind my business and to not talk to him." she laughs. "What's up with it?" she asks.
"There's werid stuff down there and a white board of the frat boys names and numbers and places, lots of red and dark stuff it's just I don't even know!"
"What?" she asks.
"I've been down there once but Hero won't tell me anything about it and now I need to know, if we go to this party tonight you wanna try and sneak down there and get some answers?" I ask.
"Hell fucking yeah." she says. "I just hate men." she says.
"Tell me about it."
"Okay, I have to go Derek is talking to me again and we have to pick up beer so text me if you go to the party?" she says.
"I might need a ride." I say.
"Sure, let me know!" she says and hangs up.
"Jo." Hero shakes the doorknob the minute I hang up and I let out a deep sigh of relief.
"What." I say.
"Open the door, come on." he bangs on the door again.
"If you're nice." I say.
"I am fucking nice, you ask too many questions."
I stand up and unlock the door and open it and plop back down onto the bed.
"Are we going or no?" I ask as he walks in slowly and runs his hand through his hair.
"No."
"Why?"
