"Alright everyone, let's take 10."
Sarah needing some space, heads to her dressing room to grab a drink and chill for a few minutes before continuing the rehearsal session.
Dave follows her into the room and helps himself to a bottle of water, downing about half of it before looking in her direction. "What's up with you today? Usually, you're all over the performance and dance shit."
She shrugs, "Just having a hard time with the new steps. I really don't understand why all of a sudden, we need to change up our performance and right before a big show." She hangs her head and stares at the floor and Dave surprisingly takes a place beside her on the couch and starts massaging her shoulders.
"You just need to try and relax, Babe; stop overthinking it all, just feel it and have fun out there."
"Since when did you become a motivational guru?"
"Hey, you know I care about you and this is our biggest performance to date, so we need to both be on the same page or else it's going to be noticeable to the worldwide viewing audience."
"And you may have just succeeded in making more me tense about everything rather than relaxed." Sarah leans back and allows herself to be held by her boyfriend until a stagehand comes to get them.
As they walk back to take their places on the stage, Lucy stops Dave on the pretense of asking a quick question and sends Sarah ahead to get the feedback issue they've been experiencing on the stage hopefully sorted with a few tests.
"Did you play all lovey-dovey with her?" Dave nods, "You know I did. If I stand a chance of proving myself worthy of my own deals and solo shows, I need for her to bring her A game, so that I can bounce off her. Right now, she's not there."
"I get that the tech issues have been affecting her and the last-minute changes to choreography haven't helped either, but, you need to pick up the slack, and help her get her head back into the performance."
Dave nods, "Don't worry, Luce everything is going to work out according to our plan and she'll be none the wiser. Leave it with me, I got this!"
"Uh huh, do us both a favour and the next time you decide to sleep with her can you at least have the decency to shower off the smell of her before joining me in bed. The bedding smells like that fruity body wash she uses now."
"I told you that it wasn't going to happen again; I just needed a way to get her to stop questioning us and why we were together while she was away."
"And fucking her was the only way? You couldn't have just talked to her?"
"S and I have never been the couple that talks a lot, we've always communicated in better in other ways." Dave smiles and winks at her before walking in the direction of the stage and getting set up to go through rehearsal again.
Taking their places under the lights, the music begins to play and the screens in the background play pre-recorded scenes from their music video as Sarah listens for her cue and begins singing ....
".... Breathe ... aim ... fire,
I was blinded by my desire
and you shot me,
straight through the heart."
Dave picks it from there and sings his verses before they join together once more for the chorus.
Without the audio glitches this time around, Sarah is feeling much more confident in her abilities and nails her solos, finishing the rehearsal on a smiling note.
Dave smiles at her, "Told you that all you needed to do was stop overthinking it all and just have fun with it."
"Told you that you just needed to stop overthinking."
