Abby scrunches her nose. "Orange definitely isn't a good colour on you, Babe."
"I know. I wanted to get the purple one, but was afraid that because it's one of Selena Dagger's colours that people might catch on to me and obviously, I don't want or need that to happen; so, I've been doing my best to get as far away from my usual on stage personna as possible. It sucks that I can't wear my lucky leather jacket though."
Abby chuckles and spins. "It fits me quite well, don't you think?"
Sarah smiles and pulls her wife in for a hug and kiss. "It does, but, don't even think about keeping it!"
"We'll see about that Julie."
Sarah chuckles. "I can't believe that it came up with Julie Taylor; I mean how bland of a name is that?"
"You're the one who insisted on trying again after it came up with Dorothy Parsons."
"Yeah, cause that names even worse! I could never be a Dorothy, a Dottie perhaps, but never Dorothy!"
Abby bursts out laughing. "Have a good show Dottie. Love you."
"Love you, Babe."
While Abby finds a place to sit and watch her girl perform a song, she's relieved to see that the venue is only at about 50% occupancy for the open mic event. A few of the perfomers aren't great and should stick to karaoke before Sarah takes to the stage to perform and the room gets quiet as the sounds her guitar fills the room before she begins singing ...
Me, Myself and I [Bebe Rexha solo]
Applause fills the room as she finishes and she bows before placing her guitar back in it's case and attempting to make the walk out. She's stopped by a group of guys offering to buy her a drink and does her best to politely turn them down. They don't take being declined well and things begin to escalate quickly, Sarah motions for Abby to get out of harms way and slips away as one of the employees does his best to calm the situation. Walking at a quick pace out to the parking lot, Sarah looks around for Abby and her car, not initially seeing either she begins to panic as her wife pulls up beside her and she places the guitar in the back seat and climbs in the passenger side breathing more quickly than normal.
Abby noticing her wife's behaviour finds a safe place to pull over and talks her down.
"You're okay. Take some deep breaths with me. In and out. In and out."
Squeezing Sarah's hand to reassure her, Abby's concerned about what prompted this response to the situation from her wife.
"How you feeling, superstar?"
Sarah looks at her, "Sorry."
"Why are you sorry?"
"I panicked because I couldn't find you."
"I'm right here."
"I know, it's just I lost sight of you inside and then I couldn't get to you and then I couldn't find you. I'd never forgive myself if something ever happened to you, beautiful. Maybe, it's not such a good idea for me to keep doing pop up open mics like this one."
"You and both know that you need to perform or else you're going to go crazy; we just need to be more selective about where you do it and ensure that there's security nearby to handle any issues like drunk school boys thinking they've game enough to get you in bed."
Sarah chuckles. "It was your lack of game that got me into bed with you."
"Hey! What?"
"I didn't mean that in a bad way; I meant it more in terms of appreciating that you've never led me on or played head games, you've always been honest and upfront with me."
