With the Courage getting ready to head out of town for a couple of days for an away match, Sarah meets up with Abby and Sam for a quick caffeine fix before the two need to depart to take on the Portland at Providence Park. An hour later, their coffees are long since finished and Sam feels like a 3rd wheel as Abby and the singer continue to talk about things and laugh at each other's jokes.
Abby's phone buzzes and looking at the screen, she sees its the notification to remind them that they need to leave now or risk being late and sitting on the bench for the game against Portland.
"Time for us to get a move on, Abs."
Abby nods, "What she said. Stay in touch, okay?"
Sarah smiles and nods, "Most definitely. I hope you kick some ... what's the Portland team's name?"
"Thorns."
Sarah laughs "Oh, well, I was going to say kick some Thorn butt, but that doesn't exactly sound like a good idea, so good luck in Portland."
Abby and Sam both laugh at her response.
They walk outside, where Sam hugs her and makes a promise to stay in touch before heading for the car as Abby hangs back for a minute, "If you ever find yourself needing someone to talk to or give an opinion on a song, call or message me. Day or night, although I may not answer if it's at some weird hour of the night." Sarah smiles and nods as they share a hug, "Thank you for spending time with me this week and being a friend Abby. I promise that I will stay in touch."
"Take care of yourself, Sarah."
"You too, Abby."
Abby walks towards the car and turns to give Sarah one last smile before getting in and driving them away.
Sitting in her Mom's car, she's hit by a feeling of mixed emotions. Her father has now been moved into the facility and is receiving the care he requires, but her mom will now be all alone in her house as she'll be on a plane back to California the next afternoon. Also, there's Abby; in just a small amount of time since they met, the blonde has managed to make her feel things that she hasn't for quite awhile towards Dave. Knowing that Abby has a boyfriend, who doesn't look at her or treat her the way Sarah knows she does and would, doesn't sit well with her either, but all indications so far are that they can only be friends and she needs to get her head and heart back into her relationship with Dave, not the girl with the golden coloured hair. Letting out a loud sigh, she turns the key in the ignition and drives back in the direction of her childhood home, with the realization that her break from reality is now over and it's time for Selena Dagger to make her return to the spotlight.
After landing in Portland, checking into their hotel and grabbing something to eat the North Carolina Courage players have a bit of free time to finish out their day.
Sam lets herself into the room that she and Abby are sharing on the road, "Abs, we're heading out to hang with Tobs, Linds and Sonny for a bit, you coming?"
Abby shakes her head, "Not tonight. I'm not feeling it."
Sam walks over and sits at the end of her bed, "What's wrong?"
Abby looks up at her long-time friend and remains silent.
"Does your mood perhaps have something to do with a certain brunette that we left back in Raleigh?"
Abby nods and Sam stands up, "I'll be right back; I'm just going to tell the girls to go ahead without me."
"Sam, you should go; you've been looking forward to spending time and catching up with the girls."
