Sarah and Abby sit side by side on the bed texting one another, so that Sarah doesn't have to talk.
Sarah: You look gorgeous this morning. Then again you always do.
Abby chuckles and types back
Abs: How are you feeling? Throat?
Sarah gives her a thumbs up and nods.
Sarah: Starting to feel better. All the same going to continue to rest it.
Abs: Just message me, Sam or Pat and we can get you whatever you need.
Sarah: Is it okay if I don't go to the game tonight? I know it'll be impossible for me to remain quiet if I'm there in person. I promise that I'll watch it on television.
Abs: It's fine. They're switching up the starters tonight and I'll be on the bench.
Sarah: Why? You played well last game.
Abs: Just rotation and managing minutes. A lot of games and quick turnaround.
Sarah nods.
Sarah: You'll be back in starting lineup for next game?
Abby nods.
"Why am I typing when I can talk?"
Sarah shrugs and laughs.
"I should be heading down for lunch. Do you want me to bring you something to eat?"
Sarah nods.
Sarah: Soup. Salad.
"Any preference?"
Sarah: No cream based or spicy soup. The tortilla soup was way too spicy and burned my throat.
"Got it. I'll message you when I'm on my way up, so you can get the door."
Sarah nods, hugs Abby and kisses her wife on the cheek before the United States Women's National Team defender leaves the room.
Grabbing a plate and utensils, Abby loads up on some of the lunch offerings and grabs a drink before finding a spot at one of the tables with the girls.
"Hey Abs, where's Sarah? Haven't seen her around the hotel; did she leave?"
Abby shakes her head. "She's still here KO, locked in her room with her guitar and journal writing her next chart topper. She's been keeping things low key because her throat was feeling a bit sore after singing."
"Gotta protect the money maker."
Abby nods. "She's not going to the game tonight, planning on watching it on the television instead and rest."
"Makes sense. Hopefully, she'll feel better for the game against Costa Rica."
"I'm sure she will. Hey KO, can I ask you something, it's a little personal."
"Sure."
"Our relationship and marriage are going to become public knowledge eventually, should I get ahead of it and post something, like a coming out or is that not necessary?"
"Have you told everyone in your life that matters about your relationship?"
"With the exception of some of my Courage girls, yes. It hasn't been easy telling some of my relatives that I went from dating men to marrying a woman."
Kelley nods, "I get that. I can only imagine what's been going through your head, I mean, I've always known who I was and who I was attracted too and it didn't come as a surprise to any of my friends or family when I told them I had a girlfriend. In your case, it's a lot more difficult because of the current restrictions on Sarah and Selena."
