Abby wakes up to Sarah softly nudging her and saying her name, "Time to wake up, Baby; we're getting ready to land."
She lets out a yawn and rubs her mouth, relieved not to find any drool. "Did you get any sleep, Babe?"
Sarah shakes her head, "Not for a lack of trying, but planes and I are always at odds when it comes to being able to sleep well or for long periods of time. I mostly just watched the movie, you sleeping and then jotted down some notes and worked on a few song ideas to see if I could make any progress on them."
"And were you able too?"
Sarah smiles and nods, "A bit, I mostly just leaned in on what I've been feeling the last few days and reflecting on us, you and how nice it was to be able to just be myself in public. It's a bit darker than I usually go, but it's difficult to be all fluffy when you're talking about being an observer in your own life, not a participant."
"Is that really how you feel?"
Sarah nods. "A lot of times, I don't recognize, nor, like the person I see looking back at me in the mirror; it's only been since we've been together that I've started to see a familiar face smiling back at me."
Abby nods and reaches for her hand. "I get that and know that I'm not going anywhere. Also, when we get to your Mom's, it's straight to bed with you!"
Sarah smiles, leaning over to kiss Abby's cheek, "Only if you join me."
Abby laughs and nods, "Sleep only, superstar; I'm too tired for anything else."
"Deal." They both let out a chuckle in response.
Upon landing, they collect their luggage and keys to the rental car that Tanner went ahead and secured for them while in North Carolina. Sarah lifts the bags and places them in the trunk of the car, letting out a yawn as she does so.
"Are you sure that you're okay to drive?"
"I'll be fine; it's not like we're going that far, and I'll drive with the window down and the tunes cranked."
Abby nods, "Okay. Promise me that you'll pull over if you don't feel up to it and I'll take over."
"I got it, beautiful. I promise, I'm good. I'm really glad that you're here with me, Abs."
Abby chuckles. "Question, did your Mom know you were planning on proposing on the trip?"
Sarah smiles and nods. "I couldn't, not tell her. Do me a favour and don't let on that you know, that she knows, okay?"
Abby nods. "I still need to call and tell my parents as well."
"Are you happy, Abs? I mean, I know this whole situation is less than ideal and ..."
"Don't go there, superstar. I'm happy, I love you and we're going to have a wonderful life together. While I'm here I should probably take the time to collect the remainder of my stuff in storage and transfer it over to your Mom's."
"It's weird to picture you not only living with my Mom, but in my old bedroom."
"Speaking of your old bedroom, we need to discuss removing those posters on your walls; because, I'd prefer not to sleep in a bed with the eyes of Lauren Jauregui amongst others staring back at me."
Sarah bursts out laughing, "Are you sure about that? I mean, she is pretty hot and the picture is pretty flattering of her chest area."
Abby gives her a serious look, and Sarah knows to retract her previous statement, "I'll get right on that; maybe, while we're at it, we can repaint the room as well, as I'm sure the bubble gum pink isn't your fav either."
