TO THOSE I have been lucky enough to call family,
Nature always seeks a balance. And after the failed attempts of Esther to destroy vampires and Lucien's attempt to kill the Mikaelson family, I knew our time was limited until another threat arose.
For those of you who aren't aware:
Many centuries ago, Kol and I made the mistake of visiting a fortune teller. The women told us of a date, November 1st, 2022. She said that it was a day made of primarily three numbers, for the three supernatural species; it was to be a day when all the right pieces would be in place, a day made of the same numbers as the days when nature's abominations were born. Kol and I then pieced together that Esther must have created her spell on November 2nd, 1001 and I must have turned on November 2nd, 1002.
When we asked the women what would happen on that day, all she said was "your fate begins."
And we've never had fate on our side.
The greatest balance ever created is that of light and dark, so when I saw the magic flowing from Adalyn's soul, I knew what nature had designed to claim us.
If I must fall to someone, nature itself is a formidable opponent to fall to. But I would argue that I didn't fall, I just went mad.
While I do believe we could have escaped the greedy clutch of death without my death, one thing became undeniable clear throughout the past several years: if nature was going to remain our enemy, I would give my life to protect all of you against it.
So I gave into the crazy and the darkness and I lived up to my name of The Mad Woman. I became the one who would do anything for her family.
I only hope you can forgive me.
I have enclosed a message for everyone who I still have something to tell them.
First to the others of Mystic Falls,
Damon, I chose you because of what it would do to the others, not necessarily because of you. Had it not been for your past with my family I do believe we could have fallen in love. But that is not how it happened. One day, though, you will meet your match. But until then, do not be your worst enemy.
Stefan, find your way back to your brother and do not let foolish things such as women come between you. And do not let the world define who you are, yes the Ripper of Monterey may be part of you but it isn't you. As people we cannot be defined by titles alone. Choose who you want to be, and show that to the world. They will listen.
Caroline, there was a reason we always liked you the most. I know you will change the world and the lives of supernaturals who struggle with who they are. I can't wait to see it. And you were right to be suspicious of me, I almost wish you had convinced the others that I was dangerous.
Matt, did you think you escaped your punishment? Or have you realized what it was? I hope you have. Let the course of your life be a lesson to all others, if you mess with the Mikaelsons you will burn, one way or another. Though I suppose you should be grateful, had we not resurrected both Finn and Kol, your fate would have been far worse - it is not fair but it is the life we lead. You're welcome.
