"NOW THE OLD KING IS DEAD, long live the king," Maeve rose from her spot by Klaus' side.
Marcel turned to face her, "it's the end of a decade but the start of an age."
"We'll make sure it is," Maeve reached out to squeeze Marcel's hand. In the span of a day they had gone from being surrounded by family to being left on their own but Maeve still expected the siblings to come bursting through the front gate.

MARCEL: I suppose it really had always been us against the world from the moment we met.
ME: What of the vampires?
MARCEL: After Klaus had been put down, Maeve snapped all of their necks.
When they woke up, it was somewhere far away and they had each been given a letter making it clear that they could not return to New Orleans.
Many of them did try but we dealt with them swiftly, there was only some bloodshed.
We also took care of Adalyn.
ENZO: They asked me to help with that and for the first time I really could imagine a future that I thought was worth living.
BONNIE: It seemed like a chapter was drawing to a close and we were going to be left with a big decision.
But I think it was far before I met Maeve that the decision was made for me.
I stopped belonging to Mystic Falls after I left the prison world.
VINCENT: It was the dawn of a new era.

"The two of you, if you wish, may leave at any time," Maeve approached Bonnie and Enzo where they stood surveying an apartment on sale, "I have the grimoires you want."
"We're not leaving," Bonnie answered, "and we're not staying for you either."
"I would hope not," Maeve replied, walking further into the apartment.
Enzo gave her a smile, "I like this city and if you'll have us, we'd like to help it grow."
Bonnie nodded, "Mystic Falls has been my home for all my life but I can't just stay in one place forever. And I think this city could use a powerful witch."
"It does have several powerful witches," Maeve strode over to a window looking out onto the city, "but many of them have either been weakened by the severed connection, put out of commission or killed."
