The wind chime up upon the door rang as a man walked in, his scarf wrapped tightly around his neck as the cold winter air blew the curtains of the house.
"Papa's home!" A ginger-haired girl shouted, wrapping her arms around his back.
"Hello, my princess and prince." He smiled warmly as a little boy followed after her, grinning.
Michael waved before following Noah.
Vincent walked past them to his bedroom, going upstairs.
He smiled warmly as his husband remained asleep on the sheets. Vincent put his toolbox down on the floor, and came up to William, giving him a small kiss on the cheek.
William squinted slightly, waking up.
"Hello gorgeous, how was your sleep while I was gone?" The blonde haired man asked, bringing William onto his lap.
"Mmm.." William groaned softly, shutting his eyes again.
Vincent kissed him on the lips gently, holding the man close. "I'll believe that meant you rested well." He smiled. "Now, do you want anything to eat?"
"Just tea." William yawned, squirming in Vincent's arms to stretch.
"Can I get chicken nuggets?" A high pitched voice said at the entrance of the bedroom.
Vincent nodded while squeezing William tight, "Stay in bed darling, and no working, you're still sick."
"Yeah, yeah.." William layed his head on Vincent's shoulders.
Vincent kissed William again on the lips and put William back down on the bed gently, leading Evan out of the room to make his food.
The man returned to the room again, finding William laying there bored.
Vincent walked over to the dresser and picked up something, the television turned on as he pressed the remote that he held in his hands.
"You look so cute with that green sweater on." He said, smiling slightly. Staring at William's soft porcelain skin and gorgeous amber eyes.
William stared back at the man, before taking a deep breath and softly shaking his head.
Vincent cocked his head slightly.
"Something wrong?"
William shrugged, as if in answer.
Vincent stroked his long, unkempt hair before putting the remote down and leaned over the bed, pressing his lips softly to the man's forehead.
"Did you remember to take your medicine?" William shook his head, as Vincent moved to his side.
"Have you taken any?" William shook his head again.
"No, I'll be fine without it," William replied.
Vincent sighed and brushed the hair from William's eyes.
"No, you won't be fine without it. I'll go get it for you now." Vincent spoke with a firmness that showed he wasn't going to take no for an answer.
William's face softened, and he gave a small smile. "Thank you, love."
Vincent leaned over once more and kissed William softly, before getting up to go fetch the medicine.
As Vincent left the room, William couldn't help but feel grateful for having such a caring and loving husband. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, enjoying the moment of peace in their cozy bedroom.
A few minutes later, Vincent walked back in with a glass of water and the medicine. He sat on the edge of the bed and handed them to William.
"Here, take these. You'll feel better soon," Vincent said, his voice soothing.
William took the pills and drank the water in one gulp. He grimaced at the bitter taste.
"Thanks," William said softly.
Vincent smiled and leaned in to kiss William again, his lips warm and tender.
"I love you," Vincent whispered, his forehead resting against William's.
"I love you too," William grinned.
They stayed like that for a few moments, enjoying each other's presence and the peacefulness of the room.
Suddenly, they heard a loud bang from downstairs.
"What was that?" William asked, his eyes widening in surprise.
Vincent got up from the bed and walked to the door, his body tense.
"I don't know, stay here. I'll go check it out," Vincent said, his voice firm.
William nodded lightly. Vincent walked out of the room, glaring.
The wind chime on the door rang again as Vincent walked down, his heart pounding in his chest.
He opened the door, only to find a fierce gust of wind blowing inside the house.
Vincent walked up to the window next to the door and closed it. Shaking his head.
He turned around, only to see the ginger haired girl and the little boy standing there, looking up at him with wide eyes.
"Is everything okay?" the girl asked, her voice trembling.
Vincent smiled warmly, realizing that it was only the wind that had startled them.
"Yes, everything is fine. It was just the wind," Vincent said, his voice calming.
The children smiled relieved while the wind chime chimed yet again.
