The orange rays of darkened sunlight shone through the Cafe windows.
It was quiet with only the sound of a clicking clock, and one customer remained. His amber eyes blinked tiredly as he flipped through the local newspaper.
William sighed out of boredom, nothing exciting ever happened in this town. It was a small place out in the suburbs, drenched with farms and forests surrounding them. With only a small population of people in the town, everyone knew each other. Everyone got along. It was a serene village...
His mind loosely wandered off a bit before he looked back at the newspaper. Scanning through it again, models and house advertising being the only articles in the paper.
Until something caught his eye.
There were pictures of people, and their names, along with various information and memorials about them. Underneath the printed images were paragraphs explaining an incident.
....
"Our small town is in a reckless panic as murder cases out of nowhere are starting to spread out all around, our law enforcement are doing everything they can to find suspects but nothing of interest has shown up y..."
The article continued with mindless bullcrap and stupid conspiracies which caused William to lose interest quickly.
Yet, he noticed something off, the murder cases, the people. All the people that were victims, he knew. In fact, one of the pictures he recognized was someone he had a chat with yesterday outside his house.
..
Maybe it was just a coincidence.
The bell of the Cafe door suddenly rang as someone stepped in, it surprised William as he let out an audible gasp.
"William, hey! I thought you would be here." A familiar voice exclaimed cheerfully.
The amber-eyed man let a breath of relief out, it was just his lover, Henry. He closed the newspaper and turned around. "You scared me half to death, Emily," William muttered, draping a hand over his waist. "What do you want?"
"Nothing, just checking up on you!" He smiled, walking up to William before leaning against the table.
William scratched the back of his head awkwardly before Henry came up to kiss his cheek. "Alright, I can buy you a mocha if you want it?" Afton suggested, grabbing the newspaper and shoving it into the cotton bag wrapped over his shoulder.
Henry shrugged, "Nah, not thirsty."
William shook his head slowly, his gaze snatching a peek outside the Cafe's windows. The light of the gorgeous and devilish sunset reflected strongly on his amber eyes, making the auburn jewels shine even brighter.
Henry caught this and reached out to lift William's chin, his clover green eyes dazing into the amber.
Henry then looked away shyly, "It's a bit late out... you know that the news is suggesting no one stays out past the curfew. Which is in about twenty minutes. So, I think I'll be heading home now, I suggest you do the same. We can walk together?" Emily spoke gently in William's ear, his free hand gripping his waist.
The black-haired man nodded at Henry's words, tapping the watch on his wrist. "No... I still have to jot some things down but, I can see you here tomorrow?"
