His mind played tricks on him.

It wasn't footsteps, simply just a motor that suddenly turned on behind him, footsteps weren't monstrous bangs anyway. He was just paranoid.

But on the fair side, he should probably get out of here as quickly as he can, who knows how close Clementine is to the office now.

Swiftly turning his head to check outside the office doors, he bolted to the nearest corridor, taking a few lefts before ducking under some wooden boards to meet up with Kiao in the cafeteria again.

The brown haired man was sitting there nonchalantly, his legs kicking wearily back and forth as he played with the food in front of him. He didn't seem to notice William yet, even though William was basically panting heavily right behind him.

"Kiao!" William exclaimed, shaking his shoulders and startling the man.

Kiao turned to him with a widened expression, "What??"

"Wher-" William paused his words suddenly, gripping something in his hand.

Shit. He brought the files with him by accident, right in front of everyone.

"Take these! Don't tell anyone where you got them from." William panicked, taking Kiao's hand and shoving the paper into it.

He was sure that he'd be caught if he was found sneaking through the boss's information, so he might as well pass the object onto someone, especially a naive person. Like Kiao. Betraying his one friend in this place? He might as well. If Kiao put the blame on him, he would just lie and say he had nothing to do with the man.

"Why? What even is it?" Kiao asked curiously, looking at the files.

William shrugged at his question, "Nothing important, it's just I can't carry them around right now, so you can handle them for me."

Kiao grinned at him enthusiastically, "Really? Okay!" His gaze latched on the papers before he sat up.

William sighed in relief, "Take good care of them, I'll be back soon."

He didn't heed to hear a reply from Kiao and walked out of the lineage of the hangout, ducking under the pipes and closing the door behind him.

"Great, time to tell this asshole." He grumbled, pulling the walkie-talkie out of his trouser pocket and turning the knob.

"Marshall." William spoke into the radio.

The hum of the static thrummed for a few moments before the distinct voice replied at him, "What is it? Did you get his name?"

"No, it's literally wiped from everywhere, none of the files have it, it's blacked out by a marker or something on his papers, and not even his own members know his first name. He has to be something bigger than just a kumicho." William rubbed the bridge of his nose in wariness, holding the walkie-talkie up to his ear.

"God damnit... well. What's his birth date? And maybe his description?" Marshall asked over the static.

William thought for a moment before answering, "November 19th, 1989. And I haven't seen him yet, but the file said he had black eyes, brown hair, and he's 5,8? But that could be a fake description, if he was smart he wouldn't put his actual one." He explained.

"Alright, I'll run it into the database. Also make sure you get a good look at his actual self, I need a real idea of what he looks like." Marshall grunted over the walkie-talkie, with the faint sound of him typing into a keyboard.

"Alright, got it." William cut his radio off and shoved it back into his pocket, now recounting what his mission was.

So find the boss. Get every detail of him. Report it to Marshall. Make sure Kiao doesn't do any dumb shit with files. Easy enough..

He casually strolled back into the hangout, then headed to the cafeteria, but something was off.

Kiao disappeared.

Now it usually wouldn't be a big deal, even though Kiao always listened to him and stayed put. But the young man left his pocket knife on the lunch table, and William knew he never ever did that. So, bad thoughts rushed to William's mind in an instant. Did he go snitch on William? Did he get taken? Yet that was impossible as there were other gang members scattered all over the place, Kiao couldn't have gotten hurt. Perhaps the boss needed him?

Strangely enough, even though the kumicho was now here, William hadn't spotted him once, even when he made his way back to the cafeteria (where the entrance is located), Clementine was not there.

Maybe he should check around first.

William looked at the pocket knife for a second before turning to the left, walking down the hallways and searching around. He didn't see anything, smell anything, or hear anything.

How odd..

He took a few more lefts, and then some more rights before entering the main area. Where seats, meeting desks, and the boss's work spaces were located. And that's when he finally heard something.

...

"Kiao. Kiao I said to listen to me and stop yelling." An unfamiliar deep voice suddenly said calmly. "Firstly, why would you accept a new member without telling me over the radio first? And, if this so-called new member gave you these papers, why did you not run to me and tell me first? I think you're putting the blame on him."

William eavesdropped closely, peeking his head up just enough to see a flash of blonde hair.

"But this is unfair!" A now familiar base voice exclaimed, "And of course I didn't think to check the files, I swear I didn't go in your office, and I didn't think inviting a new member would be such a big deal. "

"You have no proof you did not, and what you're saying isn't making sense. So, I have reason to suspect you're lying, no?" This blonde man responded to Kiao.

"Well, what else do you want me to say? I'm telling the truth and there isn't any proof that I'm lying." Kiao pointed to himself, then pointed to the kumicho, giving him a defiant glare.

"Well you know what?" The boss grunted and his slick green eyes sharpened back, with his brow furrowing.

"I can always check the security cameras."
