New Years Eve

Third POV:

Six days had passed since the Christmas showdown with Taiju.

The battle at the church had left more than just bruises and broken furniture behind. It had changed the balance between Toman and the Black Dragons—and, perhaps more importantly, it had forced several people to confront choices they had been avoiding.

After Taiju's defeat, Shinichiro made a decision that surprised nearly everyone.

He would step down as commander of the Black Dragons.

The decision hadn't been made lightly. Shinichiro had carried the title for years, and the Black Dragons had become more than just a gang under his leadership. They were a legacy.

But every legacy eventually had to be passed on.

That was why, several days after Christmas, Shinichiro sat down with Wakasa, Takeomi, and Y/n.

The conversation had been serious from the beginning.

Shinichiro had looked directly at Y/n and asked her the question that had been weighing on everyone's minds.

Would she take his place?

Would Y/n Hoshihiko become the next commander of the Black Dragons?

Y/n hadn't answered immediately.

The idea of taking command of an entire gang wasn't something she could simply agree to on a whim. There were responsibilities involved. Expectations. And, more importantly, the weight of Shinichiro's legacy.

After thinking it over, Y/n finally asked for some time.

She would give Shinichiro her answer by the end of the year.

Something about the determined look in her eyes told Shinichiro exactly what that answer would probably be.

He had a feeling she'd say yes.

And now, the final day of the year had arrived.

New Year's Eve.

After everything that had happened at Christmas, everyone had agreed to meet at a nearby shrine for the New Year's festival. The plan was simple: celebrate, forget about their problems for one night, and welcome the new year together.

Y/n, however, hadn't been particularly enthusiastic about going.

Her body still hadn't completely recovered from the Christmas battle, and she wasn't exactly thrilled about walking around a crowded festival while sore and exhausted.
